I'll be calling him on monday plus this is an excuse for me to bring the car back and have them fix the insert piece that fits into the bumper (the little black strip), that they charged me for and never fixed in the first place.

I may very well do that. It really depends on a lot of things.

Brand new OEM chromteks go for about $600. My recon'd went for $275 before the hook up deal. Aftermarket I saw some for $120 a pop

Current tires have maybe 1000 miles on them, give or take a hundred or two. They are very fresh.

That's what I'm thinking. Any cracks=full steels and new "summer rims and tires"

I knows its winter but if thats what your roads do to your stockers what do you think their going to do to your summer rims if the road crews do a shoddy job of patching?

well what you have to take into consideration is how potholes are created. cold equals ice, but when the ice melts it creates water. the water seeps in through cracks in the road and when it gets cold again, freezes under the road as opposed to on top. if it melts again, like its been doing here ALOT, that hole has nothing to support the asphalt and it sinks. thus creating a pothole. this obviously doesnt happen in the summer, so as long as the potholes are filled, they will be fine at least until the next winter.

dont forget to mention the overall ****ty condition of the roads due to last week's rain/freeze we had.... the roads around here are half ice, and most of them are like rippled, so you gotta go slow in a car....

I understand how cold weather causes pot holes but around here when the road crews patch they obviously use the cold patch and sometimes they do a pretty p*** poor job of packing it down so when people drive over it it compacts and/or skooshes out and bam...pothole all over again. I guess Id just be concerned with spending money on nice rims where I live because the city doesnt give a crap about the side streets and half of the major roads. The interstates arent bad though.

Typically the potholes get fixed pretty decently, but I plan on a "wait and see" method to determine what I'll do.
