I can't hear it in the video. but there is a very slight rattle at lower rpm's. The more I drive it the more it bother's me, I mentioned it in the HOW TO thread, the tranny rattles in neutral, but only when it warms up, and at low rpm's in all the gears it rattle some too. but really REALLY loud when in neutral and idling. But I don't hear it in the video. I bought the tranny really cheap on ebay, and I think this is why. It was new, no signs of any wear what so ever, but it not something you'll find out until it actually runs when I bought it.

Could be just the quality of the video and the microphone used... not the best sound quality ya' know.

Anyway, nice to see some vid of it running on the street!

btw Tim, the rattling noise you mentioned... my friends wife's focus svt is making a similar sound. Kinda rattles when sitting at idle and low rpm, only with the clutch in or starting from a stop, but goes away when the clutch is out and cruising at speed. I can't figure out what it is either, but I don't have a whole lot of experience with manual transmissions. I was going to ask around on the focus forums and see if anyone has any ideas. If I find out anything I'll let ya know.

Sweet 6-speed.

I love the LED tails, too bad you don't have a better video of them.

I think that the rattling is from the slider arms((whatever they're called they slide the gears into place) , they might be or it might be loose cuz when I pull back on the shifter the noise stops. if that makes any sense.

Let me know if you find out anything, but I think it's something that can't be fixed without taking apart the tranny. which I don't wanna do. but it sounds REALLY bad when it warms up and i leave it in neutral. I'll get a sound clip.

Very nice, good to see someone followed through.

As for the rattling, there could be 2 reasons. The isuzu 5speeds out of the sunfire did that as well. But only with the foot off the clutch and in neutral. It was the throw out bearing for the clutch rattling on the input shaft. As you described though, it sould like a problem they eventually solved on the getrag 5speed. The rattling was the shift forks rattling on the synchro sleeves. To fix this they used plastic ends on the ends of the shift fork to cushion metal to metal contact and prolong shift fork/synchro life. The result however, was when the plastic wore off, the fork would be too thin and result in an incomplete shift and grinding when shifting.

I'm hoping to go to the end of summer meet that's supposed to be in the northern IL Area, and if they're going to the track, that would be the first time for that. I've never been to the track when it was auto let alone stick. I'm very curious myself.
