99 Turbo Grand Am - 13.475 @ 108.43, but capable of more

Hi all,

My interest has been dwindling over the past year. I think it is time I make room in the garage, so everything will go. All of it. Spare turbo, misc parts. (not my tools)

My car is very well documented on my web site (see the gallery).

I am a very realistic person in terms of the cost. Whom ever wants to buy will likely get the car for less than the cost to beef up the transmission and add a power adder.

I.e., Less than the cost of Milzy's "3800 Supercharged swap into 99-05 Grand Am". Also, less than the bluebook value of $4,125.

My price: $3,600.00

This will include:

-A running turbo charged 1999 Grand Am.
-Spare T70 turbo, can be installed immediately, or just left in the box.
-My DHP PowrTuner & offboard programming harness.
-Any other Grand Am related part in my garage (will provide more detail as I come across the items).

Again, I am a very realistic person, and have another mode of transportation, I will gladly entertain any realistic offer since this was only a hobby.

Keep in mind this includes an extra (unused) T70 turbo I was planning on installing. (same turbo as BlackJack)

For details on my car, including video, pictures, specs, and time slips, see:

http://groomlakelabs.com/

My motivation: I have been considering swapping one hobby with another.

UPDATE:

I suppose IF there is enough interest, I will part everything out. But there are two things that must sell:

1. Bottom End "short block" (I.e., every thing from the ARP head studs in the block down. Local pickup/nearby delivery (within 2 hours from 26101)/shipping

2. Transmission. Same shipping requirements as #1. - Tentatively accounted for by Julian ( 3x3 )

I will only consider if I actually get serious offers. (I.e., Over $1,000.00 for each of the items above.)

I only want a base offer, and not "$xxxx.xx delivered" crap. I will calculate the shipping, and you (the reader) are smart enough to estimate it yourself based on your "preferred carrier" or method.

IF I have takers, then I will part EVERYTHING out. And it will go for pretty cheap. I can work out a spreadsheet this evening if there is sincere interest.

To be frank, it would depend on the offers for the other parts. I.e., Who would buy the engine, all the other associated components? I can possibly do this, but I would prefer to sell the entire thing.

How much do you think I should take for the whole setup?

I am surprised that folks are not asking about the transmission...

All I can say is.... Damn. I'm sad to see her go. If you were local, I might consider having a chat with you. Best of luck with the sale.

I just spent like 45min watching vids of the 50cal in action... what a sick gun. I have no clue what you could actually use it for though, recreationally, other than just blowing **** to pieces.

Good luck on the sale!

Um, no. More like target shooting. And, the possibility that they may be banned one day, it makes for a good collectors item.

I would DEFINATELY love to have the transmission, I have to get mine done soon anyways. What would you be looking to get for it?

See below for all the work on the engine:

http://groomlakelabs.com/index.php?q...&g2_itemId=578

As far as I am aware, there are not many Grand Am owners that have ever went this far. I can count all of them on one hand.

As for miles, less than 1000 after the rebuild. It was torn down again due to spinning a bearing due to bad detonation (ran out of fuel) at Pontiac Nationals '06. The bearings lost their crush. Everything was cleaned up. Crank magnafluxed, straightened, magnafluxed again, and journals were lathed down a tad. This required some oversized Clevite main & rod bearings.

Here is a quick rundown:

-Custom Ross forged pistons w/ gas nitrated rings (specs on my site)
-Eagle H-Beam rods for SBC small journal, modified for a 3400
-Durabond cam bearings
-Solid core replacement cam
-Block casting flash removed, screens epoxied into lifter valley by me
-Block bored, and deck surfaced by Watson Ruppel Performance (WRP)
-Entire rotating assembly balanced by WRP

And that is just the bottom end. WRP is in Sarahsville, Oh. They produce late model circle track engines that sell for $$,$$$. Pictures of all of this, and how it was done, are on my site. I'm not certain that anyone can dispute that I have one of the most documented configurations in the 3400 community. All you have to do is look, and ask any questions...

It's sad to see it go you have a **** load of work done. I wonder if the bearing spun as we were flying by the cop during the ride you gave me after nationals . I can vouge for the motor it was rolling out when i was in it.

Update: Will sell the entire car & spare turbo for $3,600.00

If I have no takers, then I will begin parting everything out. If you interested in something, make offers. I will not let this drag out

Man, sounds like a wicked deal for $3600, but I really need more of a daily driver than anything else right now. Just curious though, with that spare turbo, how much work/money would be needed to install that onto a stock 3400 engine? I'm sure it's probably over the top, but I'm just curious since I've always dreamed of having a turbocharged car.

It varies. You could do it with 1k with a cheap turbo and no intercooler. In the end, you will add more money to it due to part failures, etc. This is due to lack of a good transmission, no intercooler causing detonation, lack of needed fuel. This list could go on and on. This is why I decided to bring the cost down so low, cause hell, I remember when certain turbo kits cost this much... Then there was the infamous certain transmission, sold by a crook (imo), that cost about this much too...

I would like to see someone have the guts to take this car further

If this was a couple of years down the road and my finances were much steadier, I would really think about this. I mean, a 13 second car for this price is worth it. Good luck with the sale...

I wish this had been for sale when I bought my turbo'd GA back in Sept. I still have to deal with a stock bottom end and tranny. Someone should definitely buy this at that price -it is a steal even if it was all just parts
