Oh ok.

Yeah i tend to get carried away when im bored.

Really long day in college today and a bulk of my posts on the forum's were done on school hours(oops).

And yeah, I am enthousiastic about this event for sure. The more crazy but good stuff that comes out of this website, the more i can effectively plan my own mods and the more i can brag to my "import lover" buddies about the fact that a lot can be accomplished for not too much with domestic cars. And since an Olds Alero is the first car i've ever driven(im only 20 mind you), well im pretty much sold to that car.

Also, i really just have this wierd enjoyment for seeing people pull off new, crazy stunts/projects that give off spectacular results, good or bad .

And let's just say that seeing a 3400 powered N-Body pull off a low 12s pretty much satisfies all of the above. Especially concidering that it seems to take a lot less money then accomplishing the same quarter mile in most of these hot-to-mod imports.

Speaking of enthousiasm, also,

I was thinking the other day. I could be wrong, but i have a gut feeling that this suggestion could prove useful.

Im sure some, if not most or all of you probably already thought about it, but since nobody mentionned it on this thread when mentionning their plans i thought id bring it up.

I was thinking, since the stock suspention on Grand am's and alero's tend to suffer from very noticable body roll during acceleration, that would, in theory, hurt front grip during takeoff and probably a fair portion of first gear. Hense why front driver pro-dragsters use wheelie bars even though they dont do wheelies.

So i was thinking, maybe stiffening the rear suspention to limit the ammount of weight transfer towards the rear that happens during take-off, although it would probably hurt ride quality, if your looking to get an edge on the quarter mile, im sure this can help you shave off a 10th or two on a fairly high-powered setup by allowing the weight distribution and frame of the car more leveled on hard acceleration. Basically limiting the ammount of "lift" the front end incures which prevents the front tires from being firmly planted and getting a good grip.

Im guessing increasing the rear stiffness by maybe, 20% would do some good.

Anyways, just a thought.

yes, you're not too far off. I've lowered the front end and placed "spring blocks" in the rear to reduce rearward weight transfer. alot of people are doing the wheelie bars on their FWD drag cars.

I never thought of your trick, but it's good, result is pretty much the same just a different method. Interesting.

And too bad wheelie bars dont make sence on a DD. Cuz it works.

The stance on your car must look pretty sick(in a good way) with the lowere'd front end. And i can immagine that, although not necessairily areodynamically efficiant all round(i cant be the judge of that since im no engineer), i can immagine it does alter the airflow a bit to go more over the car then under, by a bit. so technically pushing down a bit more on the front end.

It's probably not much though. But hey, in any form of racing, it's the little things that count and can take or lose grip on victory.

Edit: Im not sure, im no pro, but i do have a feeling you're trick is a bit more effective and efficient. Same effect and it probably has a bit less effect on cornering balance. Could be wrong though. But im willing to learn. That's basically why im here .

That was only at 7 PSI. I would like to go back to the dyno just to see how 15 PSI looks

you bet yer ass

BUT....it's not worth publicizing the run until a final decision is made on whether or not it's still going to be the first one to hit 12's or if it's going to be held out for the year. Ain't jumping through hoops to get there first and find out after the fact that it's decided to be changed. I'm leaving for Iraq again before the year is up (June)

Im not cool with anything changing at this point. That should have been taken care of long before april.

Id like to see this happen. I doubt everyone will just give up after 1 person does it.

IIRC, spyhunter said if anyone wanted it changed, start a poll in another thread. I haven't seen that poll unless I just missed it, so I take it that nobody wants it changed, and it's still the full pot?

If that's the case, then it's game-on.

since there's no thread with a poll on rule changes... winner with proof up the ass takes it all.

Excelent, means less time for me to wait for results :P

Would be nice too if the top competitors or at least the winner could share the details about his setup. Give the rest of us some idea's on what works and what doesnt sort of thing. Since the whole point of this contest is to push the boundaries and open the possibilities for the performance of these cars.

they have to share details of the setup, they can't just say turbo built motor and that's the way it is.

The "winner" has to have pictures of his/her car inside and out, and under the hood.

Granted they don't have to give away "trade secrets", but they can't bull**** us either.

Yeah make's sence, since you did setup a couple of ground rules in terms of what was allowed and what wasn't mod wise and so we'll have to know to make sure it's all legit.

Although its not a GA (or N-body for that matter), here is a challenger for you Spy... http://60degreev6.com/forum/showpost...45&postcount=1

Twin-turbo'd 3200 in a Chevette, dyno'd at 413hp and 539 lbft @ 15 psi at the crank, and runs 12.97@109 mph.

I don't know why, but it almost seems like that's kind of a slow time for pushing that much HP in that light of a car.

In other news, time is short for this coming Friday (11th). I'm planning on making my run, but due to work constraints, I'll be running on a half-assed tune, hence less boost than I hoped to run, street tires, and unstripped to any extent.

I should be able to still make 12's (or damn close) but not to the expectations I originally had. If I don't make it, oh well.
