I didn't have 400hp when I first hit 12's. I had more like 330hp, when i first dinged 12s...

To the best I can figure, I need to pump up fuel delivery and pull a little bit of spark in a few areas, but that's a known, rather than bug searching. Once you get to a point where you can't get your O2's up no matter how much fuel you try to add in the tables, it's time to upgrade components.

Make no mistake, I'm going to run it as hard as I can do it without getting too stupid.

back to the drawing board. Went to the strip last night. Rolled up for the first run, performed a nice burnout for the pre-stage and blew the #6 plug without knowing it until after I finished the run, and I ripped out a 14.5@96 1/4 mile on 5 cylinders, nothing stripped out of the car, and including the spare/jack. (See non-impressive video of pre-stage and shaking camera during the run against an SS Camaro)

The car was limping when I pulled off the end of the track to get my slip. I didn't have any spare plugs on hand or I could have tweaked it out and continued.

Luckily I wasn't running full boost until I got the feel of it or I could have done a lot more damage.

Guess there's next time. I think the culprit was being tuned at 4700ft elevation and racing at 1,000ft lower causing it to be a bit lean. I added a little more fueling when I got to the track, guess it wasn't enough. She still runs like a champ though, I scoped the cyl and no apparent damage.

Transmission didn't even flinch, though I know I wasn't able to put full power to it. But the tires grabbed like mad.

Next TNT isn't till Fri May 2.

Video - screwing around in the staging lanes showing I'm legal for the challenge, then the (shaky camera) run.

Still was a good first run for that altitude, all things taken into account.

What exactly happened to the plug?

melted? collapsed? pick a description. Met with extreme heat, most likely from that cyl running a little lean.

I'm looking at possibilities as to why the rest of the plugs were fine and just that one looks like it caught hell. For one thing, it's the last injector on the fuel rail, maybe there wasn't enough pressure by that point. Possibly since it's at the end of the coolant flow path, it was hotter than the others? Maybe both combined.

Could be either one of those. Could be something else like the intake manifold design and the balance of air distribution (similar to the problems with stock VQ35 mani's). Dunno... I recall hearing from several other people though that the #6 cylinder seems to run a little leaner than the rest, and if the fueling is on the limit that #6 will be approaching the danger point. Maybe you can try playing with the injector_skew_percent table and see if you can richen up that cylinder a little?

Very true. I'm leaning (no pun intended) towards being on the edge with fueling. It is a stock fuel pump after all, and number 6 is on the end of the line after there's none left. Walbro is going in this week, followed by pumping up the regulator a little.

I just wish I could simulate those conditions here back at higher altitude so I can get it sorted out.

Not that I'm ready yet, but I never thought to ask, we implementing NHRA altitude correction chart to make it equal across the U.S. ? I'm asking because I'm at 3,075ft. above sea level which adds nearly half a second to times up here.

No, don't think so, because that would give me an unfair advantage, to take one example.

Keep in mind, though, that for boosted cars, the factor is less than for N/A cars.

you're boosted it doesn't help as much.

We don't use corrections in time, it's what you ran on the track not after calculations.

If we allowed calculations you know damn well I didn't run no 12.4 last year.

Just jumped right to the end of the thread without reading, eh?

Soon as the motor's back together (translate: time off to do it) I'm headed back again for round two.

Meanwhile, since we're all talk, just feel free to hit the track and entertain us for a bit while I finish getting mine back together since I'm not going fast enough (only one going?) for ya.

No, Ive read this thread before. You're the only one who has even made an attempt at it yet and ended up with car troubles. All these other people are talking **** and havent even made a pass yet. The way its looking, spy will run 11s before anyone even dings a 12.

.. I wish.

The pic is the before the madness and disassembly begin again.

Car right now needs.

2 MSD Coils
one fixed tranny
front struts
front control arm bushings
2.3High Output cams
1200-1600cc injectors
Aeromotive fuel pump
fuel line
a prayer and a good luck charm

and hopefully finding out the clutch is 100% okay and not hurt from the tranny pooping out.

If that clutch got trashed by the tranny, you won't see me on the track until after summertime. Or I'll be a cheapo clutch and flywheel to thrash until I can afford another twin disc.

Pray to the car gods for me.
