Burnt out bulbs on the back of GA's.

What is it with the lights on the back of GrandAm's?

I don't know if I've ever seen a GrandAm that had all of the lights working back there.

There's about 8 bulbs back there, right?

RR RR
W W
W2 W2

RR are the two bulbs behind your red lenses
W are in backup lights near the trunk
W2 are the lights in the lower fascia

On our GA, W2 on the left filled with water and turned the lens black, so that light doesn't work. W on the right doesn't work, and behind the red lenses, one of the bulbs doesn't work there either - I think that's only noticeable when braking.

On a friends GrandAm, she has 1 burnt out reverse light, and also a burnt out bulb behind the red. I don't see other GA's backing up that much, but I do see them stopping, and 90% of the time there's a light burnt out. 65% of the time, I see a blackened out lens on w2 also.

This may not apply to GT's, I'm not sure -- I hadn't paid attention to that. But has anybody else noticed this with GA's?

The same thing happened to my rear tail lights on the ga, they were always burning out, so I went to the dealership where I got the car and they told me that the whole tail light assembly is faulty and they would replace it under warranty. They installed the new one and I have had no problems. This is what the boys at the Goodwrech Plus Service center said and did. I guess its a cheap piece of plastic made in Mexico that wasnt designed right. So unless you tell your dealer about the porblem you might just have to replace your bulbs every other week.

Would moisture in the lens be a sign of a bad assembly?
If so I need to get the thing fixed then

Well in my case it did not work. I have tried a bulb with a glass base, and have tried different brand names of bulbs....

Old topic, but i was just gonna post about it.

I must spend too much time trying to pry the metal trminals into place and switching good bulbs in and out to see if theres a problem. Maybe i neeed new light fixtures

I seem to remeber on the news here that GM was possibly going to do a recall or maybe a TSB on the Tail light assyemblies. I've had the drivers side replaced once already . There was enough water in there to corrode the wires on the circuit board as they call it . Kept blowing my backup light .

Wow, back from 2003. I used to be so foolish in my grand am ways j/k

I got a local junkyard hookup and the first set of good tail lights that come in are mine.

I see I'm not the only one that had the two rear lower facia lights go bad after filling with water and exploding. When do those come on anyways? Reverse? Fog? DTRL's? RL's?

I have 106K on my 01 GAGT, don't think I'm going to get GM to fix it for free now!!
They haven't worked in years though! I finally took them out and flushed them out of all the grime and dirt that gets up in there.

for me, its not moisture at all. I've tried plastic bottom and glass bottomed bulbs and they're always melted from too much electrical heat. Its annoying as hell and wouldnt mind finding a free fix for this
