Who wants a Daddy Segway

Say hello to the UNO!!!

Quote:
Friday April 25, 2008 2:27 PM CDT - By: Michael Kwan

If you're looking to tear up the highway this summer on a motorcycle, but don't want to be bothered with having two wheels, the Uno is the ride of choice for you. Discovered at the 2008 National Motorcycle Show in Toronto, the Uno is not your regular run-of-the-mill motorcycle.

Instead of having one wheel in the front and one wheel in the back, the Uno places the two wheels side by side in a similar fashion, sort of, to the Segway. The rest of the Uno doesn't really look all that different from any other motorcycle, except that it appears to be a little more compact and -- from a profile -- it looks like you're riding on a unicycle.

The Uno is currently a one-off custom machine and there is no information announced thus far about the bike going into mass production.

The "Uno" actually does have two wheels set side-by-side, but close enough together they may as well be just one.

To make it go forward, you lean it forward. To slow it down, you lean backwards. It apparently is so simple to operate, that the only controls are an on/off switch. There's a gyro inside that tells the ECU how much to accelerate. Each wheel is controlled by an electric motor.
IDK about the leaning forward thing.....

I feel ya. If you have to lean FORWARD to go, how far do you lean forward and what if you hit something in the way like a pothole or somethng. How far will you travel on your face????

IMO, I wouldn't try riding one. I haven't even mastered a 2 wheeled motorcycle yet...

Thats why it isnt in production nor being talked about to be produced. I doubt this will ever pass the billion rules and regulations to be a street vehicle...If it does get produced im sure we will see the same rules out of it as bicycling

That would be interesting for night riding. The headlights would point down when accelerating and up when braking.

Gyros would prevent you from taking a header. They would also work in concert with accelerometers (like in the Wiimote) to keep the headlights level.

Probably will be safe, but the speeds will be limited to the reverse-inertia capacity of the gyros.
