the equipment i use for the guy that asked is i have a 60 gallon craftsman compressor, Sharpe Razor HVLP Gun ($370) i love that gun everyone says it sprays just as good as the satas. i like the way the satas spray but i dont like the way they feel in my hand. and u gotta be comfortable when ur painting. that razor is the ****. i also have a mini/detail gun($80), and i have a decent primer gun i paid like $80 for. i plan on buying another razor for just clear. people tell you the spray guns dont matter but they do. theres a big difference between cheap guns and expensive guns. cheap guns the atomization sucks (mixture of air and paint) the spray patterns sucks, the spray pattern skips sometimes and dont spray consistant. if ur gonna buy one make sure its decent and dont go cheap if ur gonna try to learn and do it for a while. thanks for the comments this car came out pretty nice. the guy loves it so far. cant wait to see it with the rims he has for it. ill post up more pics tomarrow cuz im putting it back together tonight.
The avator speaks the truth. haha.
Did you see the pics of my bike. Zach sprays with a sharpe for primer, SATA for paint, and an Iwata for clear. The SATA was around 500. There are so many guns it also depends on what the painter prefers, right. Since they come in different weights. There is a guy that does restoration work around here, one of the best painters I've ever seen, and he still uses a siphon(sp) fed gun that he orders from Japan.

Do you have any pics of the interior in your car finished? What color, base and candy, did you use on it. I went back with the same red on my GA and used HOK red ice pearl over top.

i love tattoos but i can never find no girls around me with alot of tatts. oh well . yea the satas are real nice like i said but they dont feel comfortable in my hand. i want to get that iwata lvlp400 for clear but its expensive as hell, but ill prolly end up getting it. yea i see alot of good painters that use the siphon feed still i dont like them though. i dont have any pics really of the interior. i started working on it again so i cant even really take pics now. im fiberglassing my door panels and gonna redo the dash with a different black. i used a PPG silver i had then hok kandy apple red then i used PPG clear. but now when i redo it its gonna be a black and red 2 tone prolly im gonna most likely use all DUPONT cuz i cant get good deals on PPG no more. i wanna see pics of ur bike and car.

if the fear of dropping a bike isn't bad enough, now you gotta worry about dropping a bike with a custom paint job...be careful

Tony didnt you paint your car while you were still learning at school? IIRC?

I think i remmeber that thread, did you used to have like 20inch spinners on your GA? or was that someone else i was thinking of.

Either way that magnum looks good, i kinda like magnums...Since you do it out of your garage, how much does say a job like you did for him make you? after materials ect? Since you charge labor and you work for yourself obviously....

yea i painted my car while i was in auto body school. it was like 2 years ago. yea i had a thread or 2 about it. because i shaved the handles, antenna, trunk lock, then the paint and interior. no i didnt have any rims for it at all. my liscense got suspended and the car never got 100% finished. im redoing it sometime this month.

this job i did here the guy comes into my work. i work at a rim/audio store. and i knew the guy was a big drug dealer so i charged him a lil more then ususual. to fix the spots and do the black i charged him $750. i made out of that $750 about $550 because i already had black paint at the house, and clear coat. all i had to buy was a bunch of sandpaper, the silver paint and a few other things i needed like tape, masking paper and plastic and stuff like that. and i do all this with a buddy of mine in his garage that we've been fixing up.
