I don't think you could go wrong with Pioneer.

your price range is cutting it close....might be able to find an Alpine W200/205 on Ebay. There are a ton of new, lower priced models out now, but a lot of them have a fixed face plate. Not a great idea for our vehicles. The radio sits to low to view.

I had the W200 and loved it. Sold it and waiting for price drop on W505. Whatever you do though....make sure it can tilt.

Of course, all of this is assuming double din....not sure why i didnt think otherwise. Just my style i guess, dont really like the single din motorized units. But the Kenwoods are nice....and inexpensive.

On the DD side though, dont forget about JVC. My brother just put one in his Silverado and loves it. Plays Divx, has USB.....great unit. My only gripe is just one pre-amp out!

dont need navi yet, only had my new car for 2 days and ive already got $3000 put into redoing the interior, so all i still need is my head unit amp and subs and im set as far as interior goes, and ive got $650 left but i can borrow some if needed for the head unit.

If he's lookin to spend no more than $550, GPS is out..as you won't find anything good at that price. There are "some" headunits around that price with GPS, but they won't give him the in dash DVD that he wants.

My vote goes with Pioneer or Alpine as a brand. Ebay is probably your best bet for a low price, just be sure whoever you buy it from is a reputable member so you don't get ripped.

What exactly are you going to do to your interior other than audio that's going to cost that much?

Its a 00' SE that i bought this time and came with all stock interior, so I put in 2 Red/Black Sparco Racing Seats, all new carpet, exchanged all interior parts for red and black chrome metal parts, new mats, all stock lights exchanged for red led's new Mugen Wheel, new headliner, and new head unit. By the way i did buy my new head unit today, JVC KD-AVX44. $550 =]

Looks alot nicer in person, performs really well.

I've had my eye on the Kenwood DDX-6019 for a while. It looks real nice, but I haven't had any actually experience with it. It can be had on E-bay for about $450 if your willing to go that route. I think you'd have to make a few small changes to get a double din in there

Sorry, that post wasn't there when I started my post. I was looking at that one also when I had my 99 with the 1-1/2 Din. It looked like a really nice unit.

Ill be sure to post a review when I install it. A few friends of mine and I are going up to a friends body shop next friday to work on putting all interior parts into the car, so i will have before/after pics and a review on the head unit by next sunday.
