Joe's GTO mod thread
Final #'s were 350.53 rwhp and 351.86 rwtq
Not quite the numbers I was hoping for but thats alright. The real test is at the strip anyway. Mods done are Volant CAI, Pacesetter LT's + Catless mids, Spintech 2.5" exhaust, 160º thermostat, MSD wires A BIG thank you to the guys at Finish Line Performance for the quality work and to Mitch for squeezing me into their busy schedule. Any future work will definitely be done at FLP.

Thanks for all the kind words. Some folks have told me that their dyno is thought to be rather stingy so the numbers may not mean too much. I'll just have to get it to the track soon. And yea....this this is LOUD.

Joe, with long tubes, you can't keep stock mids, right? Likewise, if I were to go with catless mids on stock headers, I'd eventually have to get different mids to match up if I got LT's, right?

160 t-stat? Wow. Granted I know squat compared to the guys who did the work, but I'd feel funny about that t-stat. That's just me though...

Take anything I say with a very large grain of salt til someone more knowledgable chimes in, but here's what I think.
160 here in chicago (during the summer only for sake of arguement) you'll probably see coolant temps at say 180. During the winter or cold snap days (if you don't drive during the winter) you'll be dumping fuel pretty bad to keep things going and its possible you might throw a code or at the very least you'll never hit closed loop. While running that much cooler will probably keep your knock retard down, it might cause trouble for a daily driver. My understanding is that unless you see hot weather year round 180 is plenty. Of course I have to wonder how much retard you'd actually see if the car was tuned properly... Anyways, let me stress again I am NOT an expert and I'm half talking out of my arse. So don't go running and changing anything because I said so. I'd say raise an eyebrow if nothing else and wait for the more knowledgable to confirm my suspicions or say I'm smoking crack.

Is this car an automatic?
If its an 6 speed, those numbers for the mods you got sucks. I put down 373/375 with just an intake on my C6. |
