Future GM Car spied in photo

Can be found on www.gminsidenews.com

It appears that a coupe in the background of a photo that GM released will indeed be a chevy due to the rounded tail lights. It was also noted that the car appears to be much too big to be a future Cavalier. Any thoughts? I noticed that Mike heard a rumor about a new Chevelle or Nova.. could this be it?

well it looks to be the holden platform...maybe the next GA or it could be the new Impalla, due to the way the tail lights are in the trunk lid

it could very well be the Holden Commodore slated to become the new Impala platform.

A very strong resemblance to the Holden Monaro (AKA the new GTO)

My thoughts would be a Sunfire/Cavalier replacement.

The Cavalier/Sunfire is going to be totally redesgned very soon, (05-06) it is going to be based on the new platform that the new Saturn ION is on. (Alpha platform...I think)

I thought about that Holden thing, but that looked like some sort of clay model. I dont think they would do that if it was just a cosmetic crossover change. Beats me, just throwing out my thoughts.

true, who knows. maybe they molded a bunch of parts together just to see what a drawing would look like

Looks like it has been confirmed that it is the new Cavalier replacement, dubbed "Cobalt". 220HP SS version set to compete with the SRT-4. I love it!

For those of you without access to the article:

Quote:
The Above Picture Is Confirmed By Multiple Sources As GM's Future Small Car, Now Rumored to be Named Cobalt

GMInsidenews has learned that the above (accidentally released) picture is indeed a model of Chevrolet's upcoming Cavalier replacement. The new small car, based on GM's Delta architecture, will be allowed to move upscale now that Chevy has the Daewoo engineered Aveo to cover the sub-$11,000 range. The decision to move upscale has led GM to decide to put the incentive tarnished Cavalier name to rest after a long run. The new car rumored to be called Cobalt, will be built to much better standards thanks to improvements in manufacturing that the current J-Car does not utilize. Particular improvement is expected in the interior which has long been the Cavalier's downfall. The Cobalt will more than likely hold the current Cavalier's price levels, instead becoming GM's first profitable small car by not offering the heavy (currently $4,000) rebates. Expect two and four door versions of the new Cobalt in various trime levels, topping out with a 220HP version of the Supercharged Ecotech. Performance is expected to be on Dodge Neon SRT-4 levels helped by the lagless supercharger. GMI will stay on top of this story and bring any updates as soon as possible.

Well even if it is the afore mentioned Cavalier replacement (yet to be offically named)

But to support the above idea.... it is true that car compaines will do cosmetic work from time to time just to see the potential of something. It's all R&D work for them.
