Homegrown's Turbo Alero

well....

I apologize for not having the car at GAP this past weekend. Thursday afternoon, under only part load, the piston in cylinder #2 broke. A cheap fix would be to replace the piston and turn the boost down, but I never do things cheaply. So...I am doing a full rebuild of the bottom end and transmission, going for 400 hp at the crank and 20 lbs of boost. The setup is going to be sick...we are looking at doing some really nice custom things...i will document with the digi cam as things progress and let you guys know how it is going.

I think I'll be backing off the daily driving boost a little bit, probably about 6 psi. I'll set up 10 psi for the track though.

And the transaxle to make it all work!

Hey, Dave, nice to meet you this weekend, too. Let me know when you're going to start work on it. I'd like to help out.

sure thing bro...only thing is that I do alot of work on it in the detroit area, cause that is where my buddies live and where we have access to the cnc, welders, etc.

that should be plenty safe for you, i really think mine broke because we advanced the timing to far trying to tune it for GAP, we probably detonated, fractured the piston and then several days later it broke off completely....so 6 or even 8 should be ok for the street, providing you don't advance the timing too far.
