Thumbs down Ford Sucks Ass

I needed to buy a cheap car at the beginning of this year. So I reasoned to myself... "Doesn’t matter what it is as long as it's in good shape, it cheap and easy to work on". So I looked at a 1990 Ford Probe LX 5-speed with a 3.0 V6. It has good power, was in good shape, only minor dings, no rust and it was dirt cheap. I brought it home to my wife on the test drive.... she looks at it, then looks at me and says... "Michael... it's a Ford." I said "I know, but they aren't really that bad as I have always said, besides... it's easy to work on.. it's an OHV V6, the engine is the same as in the bas Taurus from 1989 to 1997" My wife says... "OOOOOK" So... like a dummy I buy it. I think ONE month has gone buy that I didn't have to fix something on it. It's not just that. BS... it's NOT easy to work on... The alternator recently died on it. I had to take out the damn washer fluid/coolant bottle (molded together) I had to disconnect the power steering high pressure and return lines, I had to take of the belt tensioner after removing the belt, ZI had to disconnect the air conditioning lines from the chassis, I had to loosen the radiator and move it up and back a little, and finally, disconnect the alternator had to be removed WITH the bracket assembly as a unit as the TWO FASTENERS to remove the piece of **** were not accessible any other way. Then with the assembly out I had to detach the wires then the 2 screws holding the alternator to the bracket.

What MORON designed that thing? I'd like to personally slap the hell out of them.

No more Fords for my family, the one's we have had through the years have been all piles of crap, including my in-laws 2 broken down Fords, they have no working transportation right now and rely on my wife and I to take them places while their vehicles are down.

Ford and Chrysler are the reasons my parents will never buy American again. Nothing but bad luck with them. Even while I was working at a GM dealership, my dad went and bought a Corolla. The only American car I see my mom buying is a '69 GTO. She used to have a '65 Mustang, but only because the one she bought cost less than a GTO at the time. Now she's got the money for it, so I half expect to see it in the driveway when I go to visit one of these times.

I would buy a Chrysler before I would buy another Ford. I have had enough of Ford. Fix Or Repair Daily. Found On Road Dead.

That's why you should look into a Toyota and Honda... I have a 83 Tercel for a winter car. had to replace the battery. I had it for over a year. plus I have the Civic for almost 2 years and nothing wrong with it *knock on wood*. I was thinking about an extended warrenty but seeing how reliable it was I changed my mind.

It went bye bye. I haven't really disclosed all that is happening in my life right now. I will say I own a 1997 Nissan Quest and a 1990 Ford Probe.

I know. I'm stupid cause I know the deal and I still bought a Ford anyway. For used beater cars that old I should have stuck with Toyota or Nissan, in that order (I can't stand Honda's, great cars so no offense, but I just don't personally like them).

My ex girlfriend bought a Probe same yr and everything. The v6's are jsut complete garbage. She bought the car for $6500 and it only have 34,000 miles on it. The car look brand new, everything ran just fine. About 3 months later she was having some problems starting and everything, at this point in time I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. It started then it didn't. Was debatiing on doing any mods on her car. problem stopped for awhile So for Christmas, i got her windows tinted, white underglow, fog lights, and installed her systems, (my old one actually.) rims and tires(which she bought), and a muffler.. She started having problems again with starting it. Of course everyone thought the stuff I installed caused it. Of course I said it didn't because it started this problem before I installed all those things. So I changed plugs and wires and new battery and check the starter and alternator.. Everything was good to go. Then a month later problems sartin again. In the mean while we have taken it to the dealership 13 times and they say nothing is wrong with the car. So I told her to get rid of it, cause it was just causing soo many problems. So we traded it in for a 99 grand am SE But, All I ever hear about probes with the V6 are just problems. My other friend had a probe with the v6 and the transmission went out 33,000 miles. Then my mom Expedition tranny went at 17,000 miles Can u believe that. All I ever delt with problems are Ford's not saying that every Ford is horrible, but I have grown not to like them very much at all and, thank god I have never owned one. I have owned 3 grand ams already and a cavalier, , and very rare problems. knock on wood.

My mother's been driving a '95 Explorer (first year of redesign) for 8 years now...it was fine for the first 60,000 miles, but now the thing's at 110k and has been having CONSTANT problems for a good four years now. The car I had before the GA was a '94 Camry, and it never went in the garage in the almost 3 years I had it. So, in the spring, mom's getting an '04 4Runner.

hmmm should have got a 4banger tempo 5-speed. My friend has a 92 Gl 3-speed slow-o-matic for the last year and a half. Only things that went wrong on it was a fuel pump relay shorted out the pump ran 24-7 and burned it self out. his driver side window does not work. his car has no speed governor so he can still out run me when we get up to 100mph. It funny because his steering wheel looks like he is reentering the atmosphere.

I hate ford cars but I cant knock on ford trucks...my dads 98 expedition with nearly 100k on the clock has had ZERO problems, only thing he's ever done to it is replace tires and oil. When it comes to trucks I'll stick with american...cars is a different story.

Me to considering I've had GM cars 15 years old with more miles and twice as reliable.

FYI I am at peace with my car. It's OK I guess, runs great since I fixed it... again. Kinda fun to drive too with a V6 and 5-speeds. I will live with it for about 6 more months... then NO MORE FORDS! (or Fazda's/Mords)
