im launching at about 2 grand a lil more maybe.
Im getting some drag radials, that should help alot for those sixty footers. Me and spy were driving today, when i mashed the gas at about 35mph, when i hit 6000rpm my trac lite went off, i was spinning the tires at 6000rpm. Hahaha i need some freaking slicks.

You need some higher quality street tires for everyday driving.

Nice, that is some good high end gain. Just wait till it gets up to it's full potential.
Try luanching at about 1500-1750 rpms, you should get some better 60 fts with it. Can't wait to see what you run the next time you hit the track.

I've been refraining from asking this, but really.....what are you guys expecting from a Grand Am in the 60' ??? You won't beat 2.2 unless you have d/rs and even then I say you won't beat 2.1 It's a 3100lbs front-wheel drive car!!!

I'm not being a hater on Deeks ride here, I simply bringing up the aspect of this 60' stuff you guys are talking of.

I see GTP's pull anywhere from 1.8-2.0 60' all day long...... and they weigh MUCH more than a GAGT.....and they are auto and FWD also. So I don't think the weight is the problem.... maybe the gearing?

GTP's have 2.73 gears, well the 97-03s do and the GTs have 3.29s
I pull 2.1s all day long, and Kubiache with his DRs was pulling 2.0s and they wouldn't let him in the water box to warm them up.
It just takes lots of practice. and every car is different. It's hard to say, I have seen people pull 1.9s on street tires. However the majority of FWD street tire guys pull 2.2s to 2.3s.

And if you do that you'll leave most of the transaxle at the starting line while the rest of your chassis stops about the 60' mark.

I can build about 3 psi and there is no way that with sticky tires the tranny would hold up.

I don't think you should run slicks right away. That might be too sticky. Aleroboy has told me that we tend to mess our trannies up on the track with slicks. You want to break your tires loose if they start torqueing too much.

Just be careful. Personally I would get some better street tires and work your way up....

I'll have a "bulletproof" tranny and I can't say I'm too eager to get slicks right away.
