Really? Cause I think I am going to need one, just to be sure. I am positive its imperative to the diagnostic process, for a newb anyways. Any ideas where to look?

Autozone checks codes for free, if you don't have any Autozones in your area then you will need to buy one, most auto repair shops have them, but I would call around and see if there are any that offer a free code scan.

Sounds like the leads got switched somewhere. What does she do when she turns the car off? Do the dash lights stay on?
