I do love that blue color. It was a rare color too IIRC, right?
LOL I wish I could just let people drive it. They would all love it. The Orange '08 is pretty rare, I think Stryker Blue is 1 of 1,111 GTs built, 56 GXPs. 2 GTXs, 1 Hurst, and like 420 base units.

The orange is CAI/Tune only. The blue G8 is fun but a little crazy to drive. 11 second daily car sounds fun but is a PITA for lead foot reasons that get you in trouble.

This is my first reply in many years. To tell the truth, I can't believe this forum is still active even after it's been over a decade since the last Grand Am rolled off the assembly line. I sold my 99 GT back in August of 2010. I loved the car for many years, but I don't miss it now. It was literally falling apart around the only part that didn't ever break or wear out - the engine. I moved on to a 2007 Honda Ridgeline and I'm still driving it. At 155,000 miles, it's still perfect. Only parts that aren't original are the radiator, spark plugs, timing belt, water pump, tires and brake pads. I'm still on the OEM brake rotors, for goodness sakes. Most reliable and utilitarian vehicle I've ever owned.

Being that this is a "what's your next vehicle" thread, I figured I'd share. I'm going to keep my Ridgeline and get into a Chevy SS to serve as a 3-season car within the next few years. I always had a love affair with the G8's, but it never made practical sense to own one in the past. Now that I'm much more established and stable with the room and means, affording such a luxury is possible. We just bought my wife a 2013 Toyota Highlander Limited, so we'll likely be paying that off before the SS will happen. Plus, we have our first child (little boy) scheduled to arrive in early November. All these things considered, a 4-door Aussie V8 fun car isn't exactly in the budget right now. But, it will happen. Eventually.

Nice update! Congrats on the little one. I don't know that it will be my next vehicle but there is no doubt in my mind I will be sitting in a G8/SS/ or if I'm nuts a UTE

Thanks! The G8 was a fantastic vehicle, but the electronics were rather outdated. The SS is the perfect combination of sports sedan/sleeper/muscle/family car. It can carry four adults comfortably and still embarrass some Mustangs and Chargers along the way. Beyond that, it's extremely rare with only around 10,000 cars being produced from 2014-2017. There's a VERY small chance that Holden will send a few examples of the 2017 to HSV to put in an LSA or LS9, larger brakes and some other goodies. If that happens, it would likely only be available in Australia. Even if it did come to the US, the car would be priced well into the high $60k's or even $70k+. Way too rich for me. However, a $35,000 pre-owned 2015 model will more than suit me. If you're able to somehow import a Ute, make sure to take some pictures. It would be one of the only ones in the country.

There is one in my area. Bought every panel(or the whole UTE idk) and implanted it on a G8 chassis. Can't imagine what the guy paid for that to happen.

2 more years of school, 1 more of settling and saving and I can have something that people won't laugh at when I say I'm into cars and they ask what I drive and I have to mumble GAGT .

Thread back from the dead!

Since this was started, I've traded my 04 GTO in for an Audi S5 4.2 V8 coupe, which I recently traded in for a 2014 BMW 650i M Sport convertible. I think I'm done with GM forever after owning 4 grand ams, a grand prix and a GTO. Check out the world outside of GM. You will never go back!!

We'd bought a Toyota Venza, and the dead silence of the car, at 49K miles compared to anything GM/Dodge/Ford/KIA we'd ever owned between us or together was all I needed. It's amazing how much better other companies are at building cars.
