Question MSD DIS-4 Install Guide

I'm getting ready to install my DIS-4 into my '03 GAGT.. Its probablly going to take me a week or so , since weekend time is limited and this weekend is devoted to my SLP exhaust, but is anyone interested in a how to guide? I can write up some step by step instructions and take some pictures. If anyone would like to see this, just let me know.

That's one of my next projects. MSD DIS-4 is sitting in my room along with the coil adapters and 3 new MSD coils. I'm sure I can figure it out...but it looks like a b!t*h...so I haven't started working on it yet. (besides I have too many projects lined up for this car right now)

yea i have the same setup im at the point now where id rather pay someone else for the headache. There are wires you need to find from reading the dis-4 book that i never even knew existed. But good luck if i drop off the car soon i get some pointers from the shop.

So far it is turning out to be a major B.. only because MSD doesnt clearly explain all the wires in the book.. If all goes well it should be on this weekend.. thats a pretty big IF tho..

I have a fax that MSD sent me on how to install the box with the interface modules. Let me know if you want a copy of it. Give me a fax number and i'll fax it to ya.

I have the MSD DIS-4 and the interface modules to install as well. I haven't really dug into the directions yet but I was wondering how to hook them up too. Let me know if you run into anything difficult I ought to know about.

I re-installed my msd box yesterday, no problems at all not even before BUT MORE SPARK FOR SURE . After you install it, you will hear the msd box making a buzzz sound, this is normal, I have the msd behind the stereo console underneath. Yeah it is tricky to install but I'll post the directions in the HOW-TO section rite now like in 5mins.

how does a new ignition justify it's $400+ price?

If you guys need any help yell, I designed the coil adapters and did most of the prototyping using a DIS-4.

On an NA car, it's probably a little pricy for the power gain. The stock ignition is plenty powerful. The difference would be the multiple spark at low rpm and a little better throttle response and cold startup maybe. For a boosted car, or one using nitrous, it would be more useful because of the more powerful spark at higher rpm for higher cylinder pressures, and because of the programmable ignition retard. ND4SPDIII and I both have boosted cars, hence we want MSD ignitions.

Hey Chris, thanks for the offer. If I ever get around to installing mine and I run into any snags, I'll send ya a PM.

does this retard the timing with a dhp program....

will it reverse the timing effect to allow you to run nitrous?

just curious

You can set it to retard the timing, most likely you could still run nitrous with premium fuel and the DHP. Spray it for a second and see how much KR you get, the computer wont let you blow it up
