Distance to top speed question

Anyone know how long (distance-wise) it would take to get to 130mph? Basically I just want to know if I can get from 0-130mph in less than a mile. My mods are in my signature. Governor has been removed.

Reason (since I know some of you will ask) is, at the Bonneville Salt Flats they have a 130mph Club. I think it could be fun to do, and it's only about an hour and a half away from me.

It should be pretty close, with those mods you can get to 90-91mph in the 1/4 mile. I think you should be able to get close to 130mph. Rumor has it that its a pretty stable car up to 150mph

More power to you if you can get up there, I would really love to see a GAGT going down the Salt Flats

and even though you might be able to...gotta remember that the 4th gear...(overdrive) clutches are not very strong and theres not many of them compared to the other gears at that speed dont be suprised that you burn it out...just food for thought..

Governor kicks in at 127mph..and the speedometer is supposedly not that accurate when you max it out. So look into getting that removed if you go for it.

fyi for u guys, if his governor is removed and the redline raised, he won't even get into fourth gear by 130mph. With a 6300rpm redline my car tops out third gear past 135mph.

That said, doing 130mph out on the street (or the salt flats in this case) is much harder than on the dyno because of the extra drag. Getting to 110 or even 120 can happen pretty quick if you have enough power. The last 10-20mph takes a lot longer to get too, and you run out of space really quick when you're sitting at 110+ for a while. You cover a lot of ground.

You might want to check on the requirements to run there too. They have some pretty strict rules for some classes, like full roll cages, fire suppression systems, fire suits, battery cut offs, etc etc...

I already have the governor removed. I have a MP Racing PCM.

You'd think that running close to 90mph at 1/4 mile, it would be no problem to get to 130 at 1 mile. But keep in mind that you're already going pretty quick at that point, and acceleration is slow at higher speeds (more speed= exponentially increasing drag).

Anyone have any times for running to a higher speed than at the 1/4 mile?

I don't have my redline raised...just the extra power and no governor. If I remember correctly, it shifts into 4th at around 115-120. As for requirements, all I would need is a helmet and a fire extinguisher. BUT, I just looked at the prices and it would be around $150 + gas + finding/borrowing a helmet and fire extinguisher to do this, so I probably won't.

And if you're a true gearhead, you'll die in a 130mph ball of fire..and still get into the club.

131 mph? I never had it in me to go above 140, although I believe the car would have.

When I had the factory PCM, I hit the governor twice with my buddy...but we weren't limited on road, either.

its not running out of gear or running out of fuel that would limit you, its running out of cam...even with ported manis, they stock cam will only allow so much naturally aspirated air into the engine, 130 wouldnt be the prob though, since they normall go 120 in a good click, anything above 130 would mean bigger cam IMO

Like I said...I have gotten to 128 before (where the governor was) with no problem, therefore 130-135 would be no problem with no governor...it's a question of now long it takes.
