one of the dumbest things ive read on this site in years.

98-02 Camaro can be had for as low as $6k with an LS1. out of the box is way faster than any turbo eclipse, way more reliable, and wont have the "corvette tax".

OP, if youre somewhat smart ( know youre stupid already because you want an 11+ year old eclipse) youll get an Fbody and be done with it.

So much truth in this statement it makes my brain hurt 7k or less and you have a 10 second car with price of the car included in it.

Of course, one could argue that a Miata can be HELLA fun with just some suspension mods and sticky tires... even more when you add boooost

Actually, funny you mention it, I've already looked at the ls1 camaro. I don't like the look, and don't wanna drop that $ for a car that I don't really like.

With mods, an eclipse is a v8 killer. I've done more thinking, and I think I'm going to suck it up and get a GSX for the launching potential. Apparently GST's have a major issue with traction off the line.

I'll be able to mod the 'clipse much quicker since it's cheaper and Ive talked to a couple DSM owners locally. With the normal bolt ons and some quick turbo/engine mods, v8's won't be that hard.

yeah if you dont care about handling at all. i would still buy the vette even if it had 100 less hp then a T/A or camaro. these cars handle like they are on rails. camaros and t/a's are straight line cars. i like race cars that go around a track

OP has his mind made up contrary to all of the warnings we've all given him

Might as well chalk another one up to.....great, have fun living with this decision......and close the thread. There is nothing we can say that he won't refute.

An eclipse...of any year...is a grade A pile of sh1t. There are better cars to waste money on than this DSM junk box. And as for the GSX model, have fun with another problem launching it like you want to, the tranny/driveline breaking. Calling it now, car included, you'll easily drop $7000-8,000+ into this car when all is said and done.

And a corvette isn't a straight line car? wtf? My T/A handles well for the boat that it is. And suspension components aren't all that pricey once you have a car worth a damn to put suspension on.
