Just wanted to add another supercharger that will fit the 3400 GA: Vortech V9.

It will fit but requires a lot of other modifications to make it functional on this car. Plus the gains from turbos are well documented and are a better bang for the buck.

You can adapt most Vortech superchargers and pretty much all centrifugal superchargers for that matter to fit the grand am. Where the issues come in is the extended drive shaft, bracketry and mounting. Unless you find a pre-owned head unit, you are looking at $2,000 or more just for the head unit and then another $1,000 for the other items necessary to get it bolted up and attached to the belt system.

BTW: I would go with the new V-3 self contained unit before I would mess with the V-9.

also, S&S Headers has now gone out of business so there's nobody that makes headers for the 3400 that i know of.

Um, yeah.... that is a universal part. Not something designed specifically for the grand am. yes, it is the right size for the engine, but without everything else you need to make it work.... it's useless. Therefore it wasn't on the list.

I'm thinking about putting CAI on my stock GAGT. Which CAI is the best for the GAGT? Are they easy to install?

make sure that you get a "3-piece", any 3 piece with a K+N filter.
here is the one i got. i got it on sale for 150.
a lot of guys here said to get an ebay cai for around $80. but i'm happy with what i got.
it was easy enough to put on.

yeah, it should be plug and play for a '01. just be careful not to bend or stretch the "PCV" vacuum tube. i broke mine.(if you do, it's not the end of the world. just get a repair sleeve at auto zone that slides over the two broken ends.)
don't know what brand it is. it looked very generic when i got it. $40 is a great price, but you may/may not want to get a K+N filter later.

the link you provided says grand am, but the 2 turn pieces don't look like 90*degree turns. or is it just me? they might be, but they don't look like it. mine were definitely 90's

need some more folks to chime in here.

I wouldn't get anything for my engine from ebay. They sell nothing but cheap crap on there now. All you will probably get is a modified/generic civic intake. A lot of people back in the day where making "home made" intakes out of civic pipes. Problem is their intake diameter isn't the same as ours. Spend the money and get an intake actually designed to fit our car. It will fit properly without modification and will be the correct size piping.

I used to have a Dr Speed intake and then I went turbo, and then took the turbo off, and bought a ebay CAI, and it is exactly the same as my old CAI. Look up the seller chromeintakes. I think that is who I bought mine from. My kit did not come with a k and n air filter, but you can just buy the kit then go to the auto parts store and buy one.

A CAI won't trigger a SES will it? I really hope not.
