between the kole amp, dual hu, hifonics subs, masking tape on the ground wire, and wire nuts, i'm done wasting my time on this. its pretty obvious that you have no idea wtf your doing.
i cant wait to see what "other mods" they have come up with in detroit. oh boy. hopefully its full of iat sensors and carbon fiber wings ![]() ![]()

Thats why people are always saying certain subs suck because they had them for two days and they blew, subs blow from being overpowered. |

I dont understand whats so hard to believe about the monsoon amp runnig two 600 watt subs?
My electronics professor who worked in the audio field said the monsoon amp puts out close to 600 watts rms to the subwoofer channels. It has a proprietary amplifier circuit. |

here is a great read for you
http://ls1tech.com/forums/stereo-ele...nsoon-faq.html true it may not be the same monsoon, but it sure sounlds like it. 8 channel amp, 4 for the back 2 speakers (dual inputs), and 4 for the mids and tweets up front. and its a 200 watt amp, which for the size seems a lot more realistic. so lets do some math. 200/8 = 25 so thats 25 watts per channel. which if you look at almost evey aftermarket radio they all say "output 25x4" which seems to me like it is a standard output for a basic stock system. so if your tapped into one channel off each 6x9 your subs are running a massive (drum roll please) 25 watts each. see what a little research will get you? this brings me back to an earlier post. 600 watts out of the monsoon amp is. . . . . ![]() now let me guess "the camaro/firebird and the ga run differnt amps" that might be correct. but if you go on reading that post the guy says later models gm claims run 500 watts, which is right if there struck by lightning. even if that is right and we do have 500 watt monsoon amps (which based on the size alone there is no way) then that 500 is still divided by 8, which gives you 62 watts per channel, or in your case subs. the reason this threw up a flag in eveyones mind (but yours) is because of the size of the monsoon amp. have you ever seen a 600 watt amp that small? if its a true 600 watt rms amp, its not nearly that small. i have 3 amps in my car. the smallest is a kicker and it puts out 100x2, it powers my 6x9s and is about the size of a ipad. the mid amp i have is a kenwood excelon and puts out 88x4 and it is bigger than the kicker. and last is my boston amp which is almost as wide as my sub box, and its 450x2. when were talking about power size matters. the more power or watts in this case the bigger the amp. this is true in car amps, power invertors, and even generators. below are some pics to show you what i'm talking about. please note that the more powerful the amp, the bigger the amp. 100x2 ![]() 88x4 ![]() 450x2 ![]() the monsoon ![]() so based on the evidence above please just let this die. even IF the monsoon is putting out 600x8 that is still 75 watts per channel. sure you "could" power subs with it, but you also "could" jump down 70 feet in the air and not die. just because you can do something doesnt mean you should. i've been out of car audio for about 4 years now, but i do remember something about underpowering subs can be just as bad as overpowering them. i cant remember why, but you may want to look into that. or dont, personally i could care less if you do fry your subs, or your amp. the reason this needs to die is simple. some newb is going to try it and fry his stuff based on bad info. that looks bad on you, and this whole forum. plus its a giant waste of money from the newb. please try to know wtf your talking about before you post. ok this time i'm really done in here, newbs dont try this, it is a HORRIBLE idea!!! ![]() p.s this is how your subs are suppose to look when powered correctly

ohm load has some input on the speaker side of this equation also, but you're just flat out too hard headed to bother with.
