turbo buick lc2 swap?

the grand national turbo v6 the lc2, seeing how its already 3.8 liters, and 3800 swaps have been done on ga's, how difficult would it be to put a gn motor in a ga gt? with the 4 speed auto or preferably a 5 speed manual. might have to even think about rwd too

Lots of work and it's not worth it. Only swap that's worth doing on these cars is the 3500 LX9

A 231 V6 uses a classic BOP bell housing; 3800 series engines use a 60 degree bellhousing. The only transaxle that springs to mind as using a BOP bellhousing is the THM425. As the 425 was a massive unit used in land yachts such as the Eldorado/Toronado and the GMC FWD motorhome, it is by no stretch of the imagination a reasonable transaxle choice for an N car.

It would be about as much or more work than a 3800 swap. For starters they are not the same engine, just because they are both 3.8L. The GN engine was installed in a RWD car and has no provisions for FWD mounting. So basically it wouldn't be worth it unless you were converting your car to RWD, in which case you could do a V8 instead, and if you were staying FWD, there are other engines you could use that would be easier to swap. And you'd need a stand alone engine management system either way. Basically it would be a waste of time.

yea i guess. what i meant by the 3.8l and 3800 is that their the same size so it would probably fit. i know there would probably be some fabricating to be done but was just curious on if it would be possible. had a feeling itd be expensive im guessing over 7k probably because of so much customization that would be done probably. but oh well. thought itd be cool to do

With an engine like that, stuffing it into a transverse setup is just plain stupid. You'd be losing so much potential that engine could actually be providing.

If you want that engine, get an old G-body or even an F-body or S-10. Something already RWD.

Unless the chassis is ultra light and has a near 50/50 weight distribution, FWD is a hindrance to performance. The N-body is not light and not even close to a near 50/50 weight distribution.

Once that's done, controlling a VVT engine while retaining all the other control module-driven features will take a real hacker.

LY7 isn't worth it, especially considering the amount of re-wiring you'd need to do. But then you're left with the same issue as before, you have a semi-good engine on a super lousy platform for performance. Not worth the time, effort and money.
