the way you have worked everything in there makes the engine bay seem much larger than it is... very well done!!!

I think alot has to do with flipping the intake manifold which blew my mind when he did it but makes perfect sense!

You sir are an inspiration

Small update I fabricated a mount for an extra idler pulley, which is necessary to have with the flipped UIM.

Nice. But that's awfully close to the TB though.

Looks good to me, but you should throw some black paint on there to make it took a little more finished.....

Um...they are both bolted to the uim..not like they are moving independently so an inch might as well be a mile. Belt will be routed over the tb is my guess. Power steering pump goin to ac spot with remote reservoir I assume.

Ill second that for sure! Flipping that UIM is a really unique twist to your build, should do a really good job at lowering intake temps as well, props man, been watching this thread since day one congrats!

Actually, that won't do diddly squat for intake temps. It's mainly for packaging purposes. Gives more room for the turbo and plumbing, and allows him to run the intercooler piping in a shorter more direct route.

Ahh i see, thought that perhaps since it wasnt right next to the turbo the temps would be lower as compared to if it was running from the IC to by the turbo then into the tb Thanks for letting me know tho

Yeah, since the intake manifold sits on top of the engine it gets heat soaked regardless. You can always put a heat shielding wrap around intake piping if that kind of stuff concerns you, but it would only make the smallest of differences and really only when the car is sitting still. Intake tubing is thin and has much less material mass than the manifold, so it doesn't hold as much heat. It absorbs heat quickly when the car is standing still, but it also sheds heat quickly. When the car is moving there is more air circulation going on in the engine bay, and the air velocity in the intake is also higher. It typically moves through the pipe so fast that it doesn't have much time for heat transfer.

Touche didnt think itd be that minute cause i know the turbo itself throws alot of heat figured it would have much more of an effect on air intake temps thanks for the info bud btw nick any updates... had to ask

Nice! That's definitely on the "to do" list for my car. I don't think I'll ever be able to get rid of all the detonation without that or an intercooler.

i really like seeing builds like this, especially when they get finished! it inspires me to do something more with my grand am. i doubt ill ever turbo the thing, wayyy to much money IMO on a car thats... less than perfect.. but very nice! im glad to see everything going well!
