It is spray-painted. Not sure what kind because it has a cool texture to it. (RSM painted it, so not sure what it is).

The shroud was always like that. Since I take it on and off all the time, I just left it on top cuz I'm lazy!

BTW ... If anyone is considering RSM for any parts and/or work, I would HIGHLY recomend them! I got to meet Nelson and Frank and they are both good guys and are VERY knowledgeable about our cars and engines. They really did a great install, went the extra mile by doing a few extras for me and the job looks great and the car never ran better! RSM gets 2 thumbs-up in my book!

BTW, for those that don't know, here is their website:

That's a very unassuming looking car. It'll definately be an unpleasant surprise to some stoplight racer. Hope to see that beast at MGM.

Well, I went to the dyno last night post-porting and polishing. Let's just say I had a VERY interesting evening! My 3 dyno runs took about 2-1/2 hours because I talked to the owner of the shop all night about cars, turbos, transmissions, etc. Even though I am VERY upset with the dyno results, I got a TON of good info for my turbo project! This shop specializes in turbos and they just finished a TWIN turbo Honda CBR!!! WTF?!?!? Next on their list is a V-8 Maseratti! SWEET!

Anyway, peak numbers only came in at 165.6HP, 198.3 ft-lbs. Assuming 20% driveline loss, that's 207HP and 247.88 ft-lbs. +10HP and +10 ft-lbs. Not too impressive for the amount of money I dropped ... sort of ...

First of all, if you know anything about "peak" dyno numbers, they are kind of bogus anyway. It is the area under the curve that matters. Compared to things like intake, exhaust that usually follow the original curve until about 3-4K then show gains, my curves for both torque and HP are +10 the entire RPM range. So, the area under the curve has increased 6%. Why so little?

After talking to the owner and discussing what I had done, he told me that he has seen this happen SEVERAL times on the dyno after a port & polish! The reason is that our engines are probably almost running at peak efficiency from the factory for the cam and valve size we have. It is possible that a cam swap or larger valves would "wake-up" post-porting, but in his opinion, the gains would be minimal and not worth it. I talked to him about our cam being "pressed-on" lobes and he said they cost a FORTUNE to make! The money vs. gain ratio is right up there with a P&P job. Since the engine runs so efficient to begin with, the best bet is just intake, exhaust, and a power adder. So, in retrospect, I was the guinea pig! For the rest of you ... what you do with $1500 is your business, but I'd look into something other than a P&P job!

As for my talks with him on the turbo project ... you'll hafta wait and see! I told him what I proposed to do and he showed me how to obtain the same results for 1/2 the price! So ... I may be boosted sooner than I originally expected!

Do you have headers yet? And what are you using for a PCM?

I wouldn't be disappointed at all with those gains. Power accross the entire band is up by 10 for both horsepower AND torque. That's a great gain if you ask me, plus you mentioned the "seat of the pants" gains were awesome. I bet it'd show great results at the track too.

I know installation costs some money, but I think this is an awesome mod that will make future mods much more effective.

Craig, if you can, give me a call asap. I needa talk to you about your dyno stuff and this turbo project....cause I think I can get a good deal by making 2 kits at once thru my guy instead of 1 at a time. I'll PM you my number if you dont already have it.

Yes, the results are good but I was expecting a little better. They will definitely benefit me with any other mod more so than on a stock engine.

No, I do not have headers. I was going to fab some custom ones for the turbo, but after talking to the turbo guy last night, that has changed...

Well wont all this help when you add boost? I mean what they help out much more that way? Like I guess what I am trying to say is, some mods work way better together than seperately. I have learned that its not how much gain u always get, but what works with what.......Any thoughts?
