I had a very long conversation with a guy at Muscle Motors a week ago. As it turns out, they are the ones that came up with the calibration for our cars. From what I understand, they have the Granatelli sent out for calibration to their specs and then it's shipped to you. Mine should be here anyday. I had another one, bought used that was "supposedly" tuned for the 3.4 but I actually lost performance. Turns out it was actually for an Impala LT1 and not a 3.4, but granatelli told me that they recalibrated it for the GA.

I've bought quite a few parts from Muscle Motors over the years. I have never had a problem with their service, plus they always have time to talk to you.

From what I see, apparantly the guy I spoke with has joined the site so I guess you could PM him for more info. His name on here is Muscle Motors. He's a pretty good guy, and seems very knowledgable about our cars. Almost as if he owns one.

Once mine gets here and I get it in I'll post to this thread about how it worked out.

Sorry, very old thread -- but did you ever get your loss of power issue solved? I put my Granatelli on today and experianced the same thing. I am hoping it will just take the computer some time to learn.

I sold the GMS MAF that was giving me the problems......I ordered one from Muscle Motors but it's not here yet so I'm crossing my fingers. The computer should pick it up immediately I would think, becuase when I switched to my stock MAF it worked fine.

Who did you buy yours from?

I can't see there being a difference between the Muscle Motors GMS and the normal GMS. Either its the Granatelli for the 3400 or its not isn't it? Whats the part # from Muscle Motors?

I got mine second-hand from muscle motors (bought it from a member here) and it definitely made a difference... throttle response & get-go off the line was much faster.. until I put on these big heavy wheels of course :/

I'm glad to hear that because the first one I had was not purchased from Muscle Motors. I had heard there was a difference so I called them.

I am supposed to receive my second one from Granatelli today. The first one would not let me floor the car. It woulden't let me out of first gear. The idle was horrible and I sent it back. I have a feeling that the 2nd one is going to do the same thing. I will probably have to get my money back and order from Muscle Motors who is waiting for me to contact them once the 2nd one is screwed up too. Granatelli toild me they have no way to test their own parts to see if something is wrong with the part. So I'm really on my own here.

Hmm.........I just received my 2nd one from Granatelli. It looks nothing like the first one I got. It's not even black. It's an aluminum housing, same part# 350125-C and comes with 2 rubber connectors like the APOC couplers. Since it's raining right now and will be for a few days I'll have to wait to install it. Hopefully it works. I'm glad that it isen't the same in appearance. Maybe they figured out that their part wasen't working and made changes?? We'll see I guess.

Hmmmm.......the part # is right (i think you meant 350125-C)
Hope it works for you.....I'm patiently waiting for UPS. Mine should be here today or tomorrow from Muscle Motors. Guess we'll both see what happens.

I'd be out in the rain puttin' that thing on!!!

BTW, check your PMs....

I've got some progress with mine. This morning the car ran much better but then threw a check engine light -- O2 Sensor Bank 1 - Low Voltage and Lean condition.

So, I know I have some voltage/power issues with my car on the account of the SA UD pullies. I am going to slap an adjustable fuel regulator on and see if I can make the lean condition go away.

Low-voltage meaning low signal voltage, not low electrical system voltage... don't get confused

Same code mine threw when the GMS was the wrong one. It's not calibrated correctly....ship it back!! A guy on OhioRides had the same problem, his was bad too. I would bet you that the calibration is for an Impala LT1

BTW....I don't know why, but the one I had would work, but not any better than the stock MAF before I had my exhaust done. After the exhaust......codes and SES light!! The stock MAF works fine and also my buddy's Granatelli works great on mine. His was from Muscle Motors. So it not anything wrong with my car.

I just called the guy at Muscle Motors.....seems I misunderstood him on the arrival date. It takes a week for them to get them back from being calibrated.....and I figure a week to Ohio from Cali....I should have it next Fri or Mon. It's worth the wait....at least it'll be right! Sure wish I had it for the track Fri nite though!!!

EXACTLY the same symptoms here this morning. Car was running better, but no better (other than the difference from the FFWD pully that was also done over the weekend) than with the stock MAF but with the added benifet of the check engine light....

I am going to return this thing and get my 500$ (Canadian) back.

I installed the replacement Granatelli (#2) and have the same symptoms. The car revs up to 1500 rpms at idle then dips down to 600 rpms and wants to stall. Then once it is warmed up the SES light went off. Went for a drive and the car accelerates unevenly. Revs up then slows down over and over. It hangs at the top of the gear and takes forever to shift. I can't floor it becasue the trans screams and can't shift.

This is my second one of these from Granatelli that does not work. Part # is 350125-C. Yes, I unplugged both terminals for 90 minutes, all of my connections are tight, the wires are not frayed they are fine.

Last one did the same things only worse. I must say that the 2nd is less of a P.O.S. but still not right. Not worth the $300.00 hassle.....

Yeah, same problems. I am willing to bet if you get your codes it will be your bank 1 O2 sensor and a lean code as well. I am told I can have this MAF tuned for the car, but I kinda thought that for the 500$ I shelled out that it would have already been done. Going to see if I can get my money back to day and get the one from Muscle Motors. Apparently, that one works.....

When I spoke to Jack from Muscle Motors last night I got some more information that tells me that Granatelli is not properly calibrating the MAF sensors for our cars. (or not calibrating at all) I won't go into what Granatelli is doing, but I will tell you what Muscle Motors is.

If you buy from them, be willing to wait up to 2 weeks for delivery. They place your order for the MAF with the company that does their calibrations for them (it's done to Muscle Motors specs, not Granatelli's) It takes about a week for them to get it and then up to a week depending on where it's being shipped to your door.

My personal experience with Muscle Motors in the past is more than enough for me to not only thrust them, but also trust what they tell me.

I would ask for Jack when you call. He's definately the one that will hook you up!! Tell him you are from the GrandAmGT.Com site and you'll get a break on the price.

Make sure you tell him whether you want cold air calibration or not. I think the price is the same.

I bought a GMS from Muslce Motors some time ago. The people there were very helpful and polite. I have used mine with no problems to this point. Their price was fair. I would buy from them again.

Interesting. Apparently, you can get these tuned elsewhere as well but -- like anything I would rather go with the guys that have done it before and done it a lot. I'll be calling Muscle Motors after I get my money back from the place I bought the Granatelli from. Their reciept says no refunds - credit only but we will see about that.

I got my 2nd RA# fom Granatelli today. I sent it out at lunchtime. As soon as I get mny refund I'll look into other possibilites such as Muscle Motors.......
By the time you get your refund I should have my MAF from Muscle Motors.

I'll post the results on this thread when I do!!
