Rob your gonna get my wife all worked up if you keep postiong pictures like this.

Minus the pace car decals, that the exact car my wife wants.
We don't have any preferance to engine, but I'd like to see something modern. Maybe a RamJet 502, 396 or 427 with a EFI system. Hey have to drive it to the carshows, no trailer queens in this family.

I want that Camaro!!!!!!!

And no VTEC, I've seen the 03 Cobras for 36thou, you must live in the land where imports sell cheaper than sticker and domestic cars sell more than sticker price. I talked to my friend that works at the dealership and he says he would be able to hook me up with one for only 34thou including TT&L plus free oil changes for 3 years. The Domestic dealerships here are exstremely compitive and will do anything to one-up another dealer. I can also pick up a GT at the same place for 20 thou.TT&L included.

And yes the 03 Cobra or GT will out handle a WRX (sh*t our GAGT's have a better skidpad rating *and nearly forgot braking* than a WRX), just go to MotorTrend and look it up, but theres no point to discussing that anymore. Its pointless to somebody that doesn't read all the car mags. out there and goes by personal opinions instead. So I'm ending this topic now.(and yes I have subscriptions to MotorTrend, Car and Track, MotorWeek, and Automobile mag. and go only by their reports only)

The car the 03 Corba compares with is the 350Z, and Corvette plus note that both are 2 seaters(yet to find a 350Z at the dealerships for under 29thou, you add one option and it adds a grand to the car, figures Nissan would do that, the one I liked that had the opinons I wanted ran over 33thou, 32 with discount.)(also yet to see a nicely equip. V-spec for less than 18thou. at the same place) I would rather have the Neon t/ced 4 banger than the V-spec anyway, its over a second faster to boot(6seconds vs. 7.2). and for the same price.

Man, I can't wait till GM comes out with some bad boy cars to compete with the best which will be soon.

I was going more along the lines of stability because of the AWD, and the ease of launch, but u are right about the skidpad.

But still, Ford's ****ty record with our family has made my dad and myself vow to never ever ever ever ever buy a Ford again. NEVER!!! When u have a car that costs u $30,000 new and it is in the shop 20 times more than a little POS Honda with like 300,000 miles, that is F***ING REDICULOUS. Like I always say, the only good thing on the Taurus SHO we had was the engine made by Yamaha, and anything that said "ford" and was attached to it was crap crap crap crap. We bring it to the dealer for squealing brakes at about $30,000 miles (only about 5000 miles after that dealer replaced them) and they tell us that it is to let us know that the brakes are working. Hmm, well lemme see, yeah, I'm stopping, isn't that enough to let me know its working?!?!?!?!?

And don't even get started about the notorious Ford power steering that screams like a 1,000 dying cats when u turn it almost all the way, and it gets worse the further you go. And of course there was the Ford thermostats that fried like 4 times, almost causing the engine to overheat twice. 3 busted Ford "high performance transmissions", various inetior features broke, leaky sunroof, bad braking ability, at least one of every power feature broke, the sound system sucked, the leather seats cracked even with treatment, all within 3 years of owning the car.

I don't care if the Cobra can pull .9 on the skidpad (yeah I read the mags too), I don't care if you can get the local hookup for $34 grand (how the hell is that supposed to help anyone but u BTW??), I don't care if it has 390 hp at the crank and it is really fast and u can upgrade the pulley to make a billion hp or whatever people claim.

I DON'T CARE!!! It still says "Ford" on the front and for that I won't take it for $5,000 because I know somewhere down the line it will end up costing me about $100,000 to fix it before I know it.

I'll pay the extra 10-15 grand for the Z06 and burn the little Cobra without a blower, and with "low-tech" pushrods. That's right, I won't have certain reliability issues that u have (especially with a supercharger) and I won't get ****ty repair and warranty service and my car looks cooler and people recognize it as being better and it handles much better and all it will cost me is an extra 10 g's, plus I can upgrade it to have more power than u at any point!!! I see no point for the existance of the Cobra except to satisfy people who's dream in life is for ford to produce a car that can beat some form of a Vette stock to stock, and of course modded ford to stock chevy because for some people a win is a win (sounds like import lovers huh?).

For those reasons, that car has no place on this list. Nor does an SE-R, or an RSX Type S, or a U.S. version of the WRX. To me a Z06 or new Viper are much more deserving of the "hottest car on the road" title. Sorry for saying all of that, I'm just tired of being objective because people always come back with other info trying to disprove what I say, so now I'm going with opinion (and fact to a degree). Ford sucks.

Amen VTEC, you sound like a die hard soldier in the Generals army. Ever since they introduced the SN95 body in '94 for the Stang it's been crap. Last nice Stang they built was a '93 Cobra and Cobra R, but note the R could only be purchased if you held a current SCCA racing license.

My mother owned two Probes. The first the power seatbelt never worked correctly, the fuel pump saftey shut off would pop every time she hit a pot hole, resulting in the car stalling and having to go into teh trunk to pull a cord to reset it. Among tons of various other complaints. When they released the new body style in '93 my motehr bought another thinking they would in prove them. Wrong, since they couldn't fix the problems with the seat belts they are no longer automatic. The fuel pump saftey shut off still popped going over pot hole. The heating fan rattled when it was on low, etc. She didn't put many miles on it (about 90k in 10 years) but I can't even remember all the times it's been repaired for annoying things like water in the tail light, and anotehr annoying things. When the valve seals went with about 80k on it she started looking for a new car. Now she ahs a '03 EclipseGT and loves it. It's not a bad car, but not designed very well either, atleast she's not driving a Ford. Hey as long as it makes her happy is all that matters, and then it's doing it's job. Being a decent sporty female car.

Yeah it's pretty bad whenn u need over 400 rwhp to get in the 12's with a Cobra, especially when I have heard of stock WS6's running just under 13, maybe 12.98-99, but stock and without a blower. I think it was the version that got the LS1 that wasn't restricted like it should have been. And all I can do is laugh at them talking about how they got smoked by a 370 rwhp Z06 and they have like 465 rwhp, and yet they were able to beat a Camaro SS and that's all that matters, YAY! Even though the Camaro SS is 6-10 grand less.

I have to give both boards (not BB) but the SVT board and the ZO6 board for not being ignorant and childish about the whole thing and giving credit where needed. Mad props to that.

G35 is phat... I'll take an LS1 car over a 03 Cobra any day... stock internal lt1 car a buddy of mine has made almost 500rwhp with a turbo set up he made in his garage. Granted that was at 15psi when it spiked, but at 7psi he made 462rwhp... btw 484/524 at 4800rpm is pretty nice
Too much 15 psi make LT1 go BOOM!

IMO, the best car on the road by far is the Infiniti G35 Coupe 6-speed.... trust me , my bro has one!! Absolute Luxury Pimpin'! Its quick, beautiful, great sound from stock exhaust, and incredibly upscale. Everything u could want including awesome leather interior, navigation, and 18's.. Not to knock GM, but they are really on the right track with this car even though its 38k.. cause they have 22 yr olds like my bro doing everything in their power to afford one!!

03' Cobra......

BTW Macleod great post on the z06 vs. the 03' cobra, I think I sensed some whining in the mustang owners post.

FORD will never ever, ever, ever, ever compare to GM for mucsle unless they get rid of the nasty ass DOHC crap. If it took them this long, it's still going to take them this long to the 100th power.

FORD = Focked Over Rebuilt Dodge

Hey, don't forget the best bang for the buck, yet too bad they stopped making them... the LS1 Camaro Camaro SS owns the 03 Cobra. My buddy beat one the other day. My Z28 is rated at 310 at the crank, but dyno tests prove it to be more like 310 at the rear wheels, which means around 355 at the crank.

I see you live in schaumburg and You want a Mustang, RWD? I hope in these wintery conditions that you can keep it on the road and not against the wall or over the side of the road. Cobras are great but, only in the summer!!!

Talking Hehe

VTEC, thats why I own a Vette, I'm just not as harsh as I was about other cars back a few years ago. G35 is nice but your not going to see me driving one. If I had my way, I want the return of a Caddy V-16 in sweet looking supercar..........like the one thats currently on display as a concept car. I would sell my soul for a car like that.

Hey, I'm just trying to give the few V-8 sports cars left some credit due to insurance companies and the publics craving for SUV's killing them off. Well, for the time being, two years from now there will be alot more V-8 powered cars. Damn, thats going to be fun to pick through (GTO, GT, CTS-V, C-6, SSR, Stang, the return of a couple of Hemi powered cars, plus a ton of other cars).
