I can't remember off the top of my head.. but I bet if you start at around page 8 or 9 the instructions for 01+ are there.

did you just pull the Relay? or did you do the wiring.. for 03 and 04s everyone has been saying just pull the relay and you'll be fine.

I'm confused....I think we need to post one tread how to disable DRL's up to 99 and one thread for 00 - 03 and lock them.. all questions can be asked elsewhere.

I'll all the info consolidated and run it by with the moderators.. I'll probably just make one thread with 3 posts.. one for 99-00 one with 01-04 one for the colsolidated pdf and link to this thread for Q&A

Not sure if it is the same as '01 but thisis for the '01, maybe you can try it.

2001 Olds Alero Locate the DRL relay in the main fuse box under the hood, it is #22 corresponding to the diagram on the underside of the fuse box cover. Remove the relay, snip pin 87, and re-insert.

I'm not a 100% sure if the Aleros throw the same codes.. but I am to understand that the wiring is the same, you just have seperate high beams.. So yes they "should work" I thought I saw back around page 8,000 (actually it was I thought somewhere around page 8 or so) of this thread someone had asked or tried it on a 00-01 Alero.

As for the "...Snip pin 87 and reinsert" you could try it and let us know.. But I know it throws a code on GAs and it wastes a $40 relay. My personal advice don't snip anything on the relay.. bend the pin back as best scenario. Either way its still a daunting task.. Just getting the Relay out can require patience, a screw driver, and maybe an F bomb or two. Be one of the pioneers, do it and share your results.

yeah more than likely try it just to see what the results are

what about doin the wire trick? I'm wondering if it'll be as easy as the relay or if i should attempt the whole job. I've got the bcm still hangin, i'll check over on the aleromod boards and see if anyone knows, since the forum was wiped out and redone we lost a lot of good posts

open the hood
pull cover off fuse box..
pry off drl relay with flathead screw driver (i think its #24 or something.. but refer to the label on the back side of the fuse cover)
take cover off of drl relay
slip peice of folded paper between the bottom most contacts (there is a contact in the middle of 2 contacts.. it will be touching the top contact.. slip the the paper between the middle and bottom contact.. it should be open... this will prevent the middle contact from moving down and touching the bottom contact when your car is on, thus preventing your drls from turning on)..

this working perfect.. no problems.. no codes.. sorry i don't know the pins off hand... i believe it gets slipped between like 44 and 44a.. but don't take me on that cause i did this a long time ago. if you need any more help or need more details let me know and i'll take mine out and look at it and i'll get the exact pins on the relay that you slip it between

I'll do DRL/ALC removal. And I'll even go anywhere you pay me to go. However, I've never had any takers because no one wants to foot the bill for my travel. Which is odd that not even the locals ask.. Oh well.

performed on the alero using crazykids write up there

always as a precaution, i remove the negative terminal to the battery

my brief description

Basically get the DRL relay out, it takes a bit of work, i pulled my horn relay to get to it

When you get the relay out, pry the cover off of the relay (it's held on by the plastic tabs, just get in with some tweezers or somethin to hold the case open and pull with pliers gently on the pins

when you get the relay cover off look inside and in idiot terms, you'll see a gap where one piece of metal comes into contact with another (think of a bomb, slide a piece of paper between the contacts, and put it all back together

during the day you can manually control lights, no codes thrown
