Hmmm...I just tried this method on my 2002
**Apparently this method works as well** Ground the dark blue wire(b4) and run a jumper wire from the brown wire (pin 8 on the bottom) to the sunroof fuse on the Passenger side fuse panel. It got rid of the DRLs, but replaced them with the parking lights. I can no longer turn my parking lights off. Guess I'll have to pick up a relay and try the other method. The only thing is that I spliced into the brown wire instead of cutting it in two as there was some confusion about this. Should I cut it?

OK, after a brief scare I got this working. You do have to completely cut the brown wire, for any of those looking to do this.
Total cost for me: $0.00 (I had spare wire and connectors). Total time, minus my mistakes: about 20 min. Tools: couple sockets for removing panels, wire cutters, crimpers, wire and a few connectors. My scare: After disconnecting the battery again and replacing my splice connecter with a butt connector I reconnected the battery and turned the key to the "ON" positions and put the car in drive. The headlights came on. I thought "great, I went from parking lights to full headlights, I effed something up." So I decide to start the car to see if that made any difference. It wouldn't start. It just cranked and cranked. I thought "oh boy, I fried my BCM or something." So I start disconnecting the battery again to put all the connections back to stock when it hits me...I forgot to plug the connector back into the BCM...DOH! I disconnected the battery, plugged the connector back in and reconnected the battery. Presto! Everything worked like it's supposed to! No more DRL for me, and no SVS! Thanks for this thread guys. Are you ever going to put this into it's own sticky so people like me who are just now trying to do this don't have to read through 800 pages of back and forth? Thanks again!

Your mom doesn't like change...so you installed an HID kit on her car?
Chances are she would notice less of a change that the DRLs are gone than the HID she now has.

ok so im ready to set up a switch for the drl and another for the alc. i got the concept down for the drl switch setup. but how would i setup the alc on a switch
"ALC bypass at connector C2 find A3 the yellow/black wire, and B2 light green/black wire.. be careful because there are two light green/black wires on that connector.. the one you want is closest to the yellow/black wire. cut these wires again leaving as much wire as possible attached to the BCM.. simply tie the two wires together and tape them up real good. (this is the same thing as removing ambient light sensor and adding a jumper wire)" id like to make it so i can flip on/off the alc with a switch but am not sure how to do it with this "jumper setup" any help would be cool. also....where would a good spot for the switches be? kick panel?

I believe the 04-05 models were as simple as pulling the DRL relay, and a resistor in place of the ambient light sensor for the ALCs. Sound about right???

k so this is what i did on my 2001 grand am
for the DRL: dark blue wire (b4) Cut this wire, attached this wire to a good ground For the ALC: A3 the yellow/black wire, and B2 light green/black wire, cut these wires, tied the two wires together and tape them up real good everything works like it should, only thing is, the SVS light is on. So my question is, do i need to cut the brown wire and put it in the sunroof fuse or whatever that process is? Or do i need to install a resistor between A3 and B2 wires? Ok so i have a 2002 Grand am GT1 and i saw that this is how you disable DRL
01-02 model Grand Am No drl 1.) I should not have to say this but first disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. (cheap insurance). 2.) Remove the middle connector as stated before in the previous posts. Now locate the brown wire (pin 8 on the bottom). This is the pin that tells the BCM that the lights switch in not in the auto setting. Cut this wire, leaving enough room to extend it to the relay. 3.)The relay: Get a standard 4 or 5 pin 12V relay. Here is how the pins need to be wired. Pin 30-->go to the brown wire that you cut (on the BCM side), Pin 87-->12V (constant), Pin 86--> ground, Pin 85-->12V (switched when key is on), Pin 87a-->no connect. NOTE: the 12V constant to Pin 87 could also be switched I do not think that it matters. 4.)Once the relay is connected I used some double sided tape and stuck it next to the fuse box out of the way. Now you need to cut the dark blue wire and ground it just like the 99-00. 5.)reconnect your BCM and your battery and test the system. Every thing worked fine for me no SVS and no DRLs. Can someone tell me exactly what gets connected to Pin 87 and Pin 85 |

I think s mod needs to put together a final list of instructions, make it a sticky, then lock it.

OK. Someone asked me if I had any pictures since I did this on my 02. I didn't, but out of the kindness of my heart, I sweated my butt off in the garage for a bit to take some pics, so here you go.
This is only for the DRL disable on a 2002 (and whatever other years are the same...2001 I think). This is the BCM still under the dash: ![]() This is the BCM after I slid it out of it's holder, the middle connector is obviously the one we are interested in: ![]() Here you can see the two wires. The brown (spliced to white) goes to power, the blue (spliced to black) goes to a ground (the other side of the cuts are just taped off): ![]() There is not much wire to work with, so it's a bit of a pain. Another pic from the back to show the wire locations (ignore the speaker wire): ![]() The white wire that I attached to the brown goes to the sunroof fuse: ![]() Hope these help some of you out.

So it shouldn't bother even if you have a sunroof it will work without throwing the fuse out? Thanks a ton for the pics. I appriciate it to the fullest extent.

You can run it to anything that has power when the car is turned on. Sunroof is just easy.
