Just installed CAI, and there's trouble...please help!

I finished installing my FDP cold air tonight, everything went fine with the install, but I've thrown an SES light and I don't understand why. I checked everything over (IAT's in place, MAF wiring harness is in properly, etc etc) and everything seems to be in order...has this happened to anyone else? How can I get rid of this damn SES?

Um, did you unhook the negative terminal of the battery after you installed the CAI? That could be the reason for the SES. If you don't do that, the ECU doesn't have a chance to adapt to the new A/F ratio. Just unhook the terminal, let it sit for a minute, then hook it back up. It'll mess up all your settings on your CD player, but those are all retrievable.

The terminal is simply the cable connected to the negative side of the battery, yes? (Sorry, I'm what's known as a mechanical moron.)

You must leave it to sit for at least 15 minutes to make sure the code goes and the PCM resets.

I think you might have actually jinxed it man ...about 10 minutes into the ride to work this morning, the dreaded yellow light came back on...again, any ideas as to why? There's an AutoZone on the way home from work, I think I'm gonna stop there around 4:30 and have them read the code (they still do that for free, right?)

Yeah def. go to auto zone. Disconnecting the battery will never delete a code, it'll just make it disappear for a few miles. They'll tell you what it is (probably running a little lean) and delete it for you.

And then it will come back again if the issue remains! AZ should at least tell you the code so you'll know what the issue is...
Getting rid of the code, such as a lean code, will take some more modding.

Makes sense, jus us people in Maine are kinda back-woods and all, and I have never heard of them doing ANYTHING for free.

Well, I got the code read, and it is a lean condition. The code was P0113, IAT High Input. The guy I spoke to at AZ said that I need to make some adjustments and richen up the air/fuel ratio. So, that brings us to our next question: how do I make the ratio richer?

Well, I don't know how technical this may be, but if you do the IAT sensor override mod (found in the mods section), it'll make the car run more rich. I could be way off base on this, but I would have no ideas other than that.

Check your sensor connection! I had the same problem and it was the sensor connection. After you connect properly, if this is the problem, make sure you unhook your battery cable for a few minutes to allow the pcm to relearn. Sent you a PM.
