check that the IAT is fully in the airstream too.

The IAT seems to be completely within the airstream, and I didn't see any black rubber fitting on the sensor anywhere, as Black99GT/Rob suggested to me via PM...however, just to be certain, this fitting would be below the "lip" of the sensor, yes? All I saw under that lip was the plastic that led up to the sensor.

Ian said that the IAT sensor extension might help...I'm assuming he means that by moving the sensor closer to where the air is coming in, the reading will be cooler and the engine will then richen up the ratio. My only question is, how effective will/might this be, and if it is, will it be enough to stop the SES?

The extension is a waste of $$. It's not like you've got a 1,000 degree engine bay, and between the cone and the TB the air doesn't get THAT MUCH warmer.

I see...anyway, the flippin f*ckin SES came back on this morning. If the IAT sensor extension won't cure this, anyone got any ideas as to what will?

I recommended the override mod, not the extension...it'll make the A/F ratio more rich. You could try the extension, but I agree that it's a waste of money. The air going through the tube is sucked in too fast for it to gain in temperature from the end of the tube. It may fluctuate a few degrees, but not enough for it to matter. You might wanna try getting a new IAT sensor. It wouldn't be that expensive, and I think you could install it yourself. Just giving some ideas here...

extension is a waste, if you want to extend it, cut the wires and solder in longer wire. hehe

Sorry Ian, I must have read your post wrong or something, I didn't see that you meant the override and not the extension. Anyway, what do you guys think would be more effective in curing this: the sensor override or the SLP air temp module? Or, are these basically the same thing?

As I stated earlier in the thread, I am a complete idiot. Just as BLACK99GT/ROB said, the other half of my IAT sensor is still in the stock rubber hose that connects the MAF to the TB. Now I just have to get that thing out and put it back where it should be.

Yeah, me too...and now for another silly question, how do I get the other half of the sensor out of the stock fitting? It almost seems like the sensor is part of the fitting, but I know that can't be right.

Pull on it very carefully. And when you go to put in in CAI be careful not to mess up the little rubber ring it slips into.Glad I could help you out! Rob

STOP!!!!!
http://www.grandamgt.com/forum/showt...ight=020603005

I had the same problem! Did this and fixed it. Seems that the insulation inside the pigtail breaks on occasion and needs to be replaced.

I don't think that's the problem...Rob told me what happened when he installed his CAI, and he threw the same code that I did...I put the other half of my IAT sensor back in yesterday, unhoooked the battery to reset the PCM, and I'm going to autozone today to have them clear the code to make sure it's gone. If I throw that same P0113 code again after it gets cleared today, then I'll look into this insulation business. Thanks for posting that though, I appreciate it.
