it's not time that will tell, it's how much $$ they will make. it's a lot like the EM s/c for this car, they made it and everyone wanted it but only 15 were purchased so they scrapped, the same thing is gonna happen with the 2.2 unless they start putting it into every car.

That buzzy 160-190HP Quad4 was getting over 30mpg in the Cutlass Calais!

Honestly I think they went with the Ecotec cause it's cheaper to produce since they put it in so many vehicles etc...

In an earlier post, Spoon said there would be a spy pic released before the unveiling at the Detroit auto show. Maybe he can tell us if this is actually the next Grand Am, and how far along this thing is?

the wheelwells look to different. i think they should be more of and equal height and use the same type of lip/flare.

my ho quad gets better mileage thans my moms eco but my car also weighs less and is a 5 speed which helps. is this new 3.5/3.6 going to be offered with a manual?

from what i understand the 3.5 willbe a 4 speed auto and the 3.9 will be a 6 speed manual or 4 speed auto

Jayce...Spoon...anyone who may be lurking...if this is the spy shot of the next gen GA, scrap it while you can!!
Actually I would rather scrap some of the comments here. I haven't been here for a couple of months and I probably wont' be back for a couple of more. You guys some times warrant input and we sometimes show people your comments, but I really get sick of the imature behaviour that certain people exhibit here. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but please.......... Enough of that, you guys go on whining and complaining, and I'll continue to NOT share any information. Shame that so few can ruin it for the majority!

That's the way he feels. It just isn't sporty looking. It's bland and cheap looking. Won't even consider it as my next purchase. Won't consider anything gm has to offer in their car lines. The problem is GM is focusing more on their suvs and trucks than their cars.

Gee Spoon, I have always been cool with you, I don't know why you have to be like that

However, if you want to quote my feelings on this car and say you don't want to hear them/tired of them, well, continue to make that ugly piece of sh1t and see where all your support goes. I'm sure it will sell, but it won't be to enthusiast's like us. And as far as calling our comments "IMMATURE", I think you and all your buddies need to get off your high horse's. Contrary to what you think your desings aren't all that and keeping this notion that we are just uneducated car desingers is not wise. I'm not really convinced you and the other high ups whose names are said on here really give a damn about us anyway. We are just a small tool for you to play "nice manufacturer" with.

Maybe you would also like to know that my father has worked for GM, now Delphi, for almost 30 years...and him and many other workers have no faith in where GM is going. I'm sure the design teams ego's at GM think he and the other's are crazy though. But let me highlight this, thank God for the big GM discount, or a lot of GM employees would probably be driving a plethera of other cars...in fact...my mother has a PT Cruiser.

EDIT: Not that you care, but thinking more about how you replied to my post...you and the other boys there at Pontiac can take your car and shove it. You have officially lost my support and business on any future products, congratulations...it only takes one buyer at a time remember.

Spoon, don't know you, but I would appreciate if you keep giving us info. I consider my view of you slightly higher than neutral, due to interesting facts you've stated in *other* threads. Although you may have issues with some members here, there are others (like myself) that appreciate you taking time to share information with us. The new GA or G6 or crap or renta car or whatever people choose to call it may not be of your doing, so I won't flame you. I think the new "spy pics" look decent, but the ones from this thread look horrible. That's my opinion of the CAR and not of anyone who designed it. Confusing post here, I know, but I just want you to know that not everyone here hates you/gm/gmpd/gm engineers.

Let me clear something up, I don't "hate" anyone. But I do think some people have a pretty p1ss poor attitude and way they handle things.

For the better. The information you provide is often incorrect or slanted towards your opinion rather than being the clear cut truth. I wish I would have listened to you....my knock sensor won't stop going off ever since I got them damn headers....

Well see it as you wish, but unless the software has been altered, I would love to see the ESC output with a Tech II. I don't need to slant anything. I have been playing with cars far to long to confuse facts about what I work with everyday. I don't share everything because I can't and your comments about my knowledge is fine. You are entitled to your opinion as is everyone, but I think I'll keep mine.

Hey man, please don't let a few idiots screw it up for those of us that appreciate the knowledge and opinon of an experienced GM engineer like you.

By the way I went to Auto Show in Motion here in denver last Sunday... GM cars and trucks do seem to be improving and are still compedative for performance! Impala SS, GTP, Grand Prix GT, Monte Carlo SS, Monte Carlo SS Supercharged, Yukon, Silverado SS, Silverado Quadrasteer (AMAZING turning radius) all were VERY impressive to name a few tat I tested. However, I'm kinda angry since I had to leave without taking a Corvette with me. Yeah, I got to drive it, but I NEED one in the driveway.

2 people or "to people"? Lots of other people appreciate Spoon's input here.

Let's pretend Spoon is wrong about the headers and there are no problems with ANY header for the GA. OK ready for this: SO WHAT?!! Really SO WHAT?

Have you ever been wrong on anything in your life? Have you any expertise on anything? If so, have you ever been wrong on ANYTHING related to that supposed expertise? If so, are you now not credible at all?

Are you that stupid to think just because a GM ENGINEER with decades of experience does not agree with your little headders on you little FWD Grand Am family car, that now he's not a credible source of information? If you honestly believe that then YOU need to get a BRAIN inside YOUR thick skull.

I don't agree, but oh well, that's why there are many different vehicles on the planet, everyone is different.
