I think both guys have good points, and both sound like they know their stuff. I guess what it comes down to is what style hood will be available, how functional will it be, and how much it will cost. Of course all that is up in the air right now. The best I can do is tell you guys what I'd like to see. I would like a ram air hood like I have, or a vented hood like this one . Hood pins for the front are fine but I'd really like the back to bolt to the stock hinges. Although the carbon fiber look would look good on my car, it might not look good on other colors, and I'd rather have mine painted anyway. So I would like the ultra light hood. You could probably get somewhat of a CF look effect if you put a ton of clear coat on it and polished it, and it would be nice to have the option to paint. Also, I think if I or someone else donates a hood as a model, that person should get some kind of discount on the new hood. Only fair right?

Well... I can do what ever you want. scooped, molded, or stock. I will not be able to get you hinged at $600, but it is very glossy.

Hood donation is strictly up to the person who gives it up and with me you will get it back but there is no discount.

Aleroboy knows that I literally make $50 of my hoods and on his I am $500 in the hole already.

Mold costs about $150
Actual CF about $200-250
Waxes, vacuum bags, buffers, resin about $25-30
Labor is almost free at that point and then I take a small cut.
Plus, there is building rent and other tools/ equipment

If the other guy can do them hinged, cheaper, and out of the same material... Ill let him have the job.

Guys I personally wouldn't mind either man doing the job for a hood for us. I'm primarily looking at this for the lightweight aspect of it. I also want it to look good, too. I don't mind hood pins, or what not to get to work under my hood. It, i think, adds to the cool factor of it. Hardcore man hardcore.

Ya'll know my cash is about ready to whoever does the batch. I cannot send my hood, just a reminder, because it's F**ked up to $hit

botlfed Normally I would say yes, but in previous posts I have said "It is definitely the way to go and I am still planning helping you guys out as soon as I can clear a few setbacks on this side. "

There was collision of problems between my company and the carbon fiber company. Its just legal and tax issue that we need to get straitened out and when it does (in the next 24 hours) then I WILL ask for the hood as long as someone can pay for the first hood.

Aaron...who has a vented hood like that....I will settle for a SD Ram Air hood but that vented one is BAD!!

Brandon...Are you gonna get your SS hood molded? That'll be cool. Do you have that thing on yet?

so then can I get a show of hands (or whatever the internet equivalent of that is) for how many would pay the $550 for the hinged (front pins OPTIONAL) OEM-style hood and would be willing to put maybe $100-$200 down. I believe turnaround time is 3-5 weeks from the word 'go'. So speak up if you want it

You guys do realize that once a mold is made from a hood that mold is only good for 4-5 uses....So more than one hood will need to be molded even if we all agree on the same style....

i can do 100-200 down on a 550$ HINGED full cf hood with no fiberglass underneath ... if thats what im understanding, if no hinges are possible without a fiberglass underbody then i'll deal with the pins.... 40% chance i cant come up with the cash atm, few expenses to take care of... 500$ books next mont, 200$ trip to visit gf, payments on my new laptop....

Actually, you can get more than 4-5 uses out of a mold. It's true they don't last forever, but they last longer than that. I can't afford $500+ for a new hood right now anyway, so if I'm not going to get a discount for donating my hood than I'm out. I can't afford to have my $800 hood jacked up from making a mold and have to re-finish it 'cause I can't afford to buy the new one either! I wouldn't pay that much for a stock looking hood either after going to all the trouble for an aftermarket hood so my car looks different from every other GA on the road. I also really like having the extra ventilation in the summer with a blower under the hood. If nobody can do better than that then I'm just going to have my own hood made latter when I get more money.

I feel the same way. The hood that you linked to was BAD A$$ and I would pay for a CF hood like that in a heart Beat. or something very similar.

I personally don't want ram air hood scoops, no ss hood scoops nothing of that sort...

the most i'll go for is a hood w/ heat extractors...

really would prefer oem carbon fiber ......

you all know i'm in

so regardlesss that's 1 hand up till the end of time..
