Derek the reason we get slicks is to get traction, not to break traction....

my buddy has a 99 gtp and he has some work done to it but he has looked into getting slicks and has found out that if he were to put them on he would blow out his tranny, but if he got something that were not all out slicks, and were still street legal tires he would be fine, like some BFGoodrich drag radials or try the g-force t/a.

spy i think what deek meant was if he lit up the slicks they would stick better, thats what you DONT want then you are defeating the purpose, tune yourself out on street tires, then if you are unhappy move to slicks - but understand your gonna drop that transmission faster then spys panties on prom night, or any night for that matter, just feather it off the line and stomp it..

If you launch your car with 2-3psi, hook and floor it. Your diff will be in many parts laying at the starting line Go with drag radials, once you put in a LSD then you can up to slicks.

I'm getting some drag radials this spring. If we could get a LSD that would be heaven. With both tires hooking up I'd predict 1.9sec 60' times. BTW, that's one advantage of the SC. No need to try and build boost at the line. Just brake torque it and half throttle on the green. Once the tires hook up floor it and you have instant full boost. Better for autocross too.

I launched on 6 psi all day long on the street. Sometimes I hooked sometimes I didn't.

Derek, I've seen a video floating around on the internet of a Turboed GA racing a SRT-4. . .supposedly from Las Vegas. Is that you, or Spy? The video is at night, so I can't really see the car. . .just know it's a GA from the headlights.

I guess that depends on what you call full boost.

I'll be calling 10 psi full boost and it will be there before a second is up, if that long. What it comes down to, is how long does it take for your foot to drop for full throttle? That's how long it takes for it to spool. Not very long.

As far as the LSD is concerned... it's getting built this week. The only catch is trying to get money for shop time to get it installed.

If it was a Red SRT-4 on the left and a black grand am on the right with bluish headlights then yes that would be me.... Wow i cant belive the internet can reach so many people. Yeah it was me, and yes he beat me, by about a car and a half. He pulls out of the hole but top end we were right about the same. If you watch the video closely with the volume turned up you hear a pop, (not from me, from the chip that is on the srt) ...........by the way that srt runs 13.5 at the track here..........

Yep, that's the video! I wasn't too sure until you mentioned the "pop" That's definitely cool that you were able to give the SRT-4 a run for its money! Hopefully, once you get yours tuned, you can make him call you daddy

i would wish that would be true, that srt with some slicks at the track would be in the 12s though. Ill post some time slips of mine after the 13th(next track date) with some dyno results too. I should be in the low 14s with stock tires. I got some tuning products on their way as we speak. If i dont make him call me daddy i def. will make most grandams , not spy though.

where did you find that video?

He's going to need more than just tuning to beat an SRT-4. He'll need a built engine. The SRT's engine can handle a lot more boost and a lot of power with out touching the internals. Dodge way overbuilt the engine from the factory to decrease developement time and get it into production fast. They were able to bypass the corporate bean counters for the sake of better reliability and lower waranty costs. That engine is absolutely sick!

Yep, that whole car is sick! I've been considering trading my baby in on one of those. It'll probably be my graduation present to myself. I'd probably have to leave it stock, though, to avoid getting myself into even more trouble.

i wouldnt say the whole car........its still a neon. The motor they have is sick i agree with that but its also like the wrx, real fast nice motor, not a whole lot of looks. Grant it the aftermarket for those cars is extremely bigger then a grandam. Give me some time, and i will lay the smack down on a srt,

by the way aaron that srt is the fastest srt that vegas has to offer and guess what i can keep with him. just remember that come GAP.
