You can get the Aftermarket headlights off ebay for $94-100. A local salvage yard sells them here too.

You gotta wait till the last minute or seconds to bid. Works everytime for me. That is, of course, if the price is not too high.

I have realized that this thread has now turned into a HID thread, but if there is anyone out there that is still willing to talk about Silverstars, I have some questions. I first experienced the "silverstar advantage" in March of last year, and now since winter has hit in lovely Wisconsin, I have had both a headlight and a fog light (both silverstars) burn out. I contacted the company, and Trish said that because of the daytime running lamp function, they are only going to last 6-8 months. First, the fog lights arent on with the DRLs and the foglight bulb burnt out at the end of January. I got them as a Christmas gift. What the f*** is up with that? Also the other headlight bulb that didn't burn out is still working great. I bought those in March 2003. Anyone with advice/ help please share! Also I love the look of HIDs.... but someone said before that they saw a car with silverstars, and then saw one without and couldn't tell the difference? Well, I think you are totally wrong. I have three friends that also have silverstars in their cars, and when I see them driving around, compared to the other cars around them, there is a BIG difference in the way that their headlights look. I know for sure. I don't ever want to get rid of my silverstars, but I AM NOT going to spend $20 every couple of months to replace them.

I'm wrong huh??? I'll take a pic for you to show you how much of a difference it is. I have the stock bulbs in my fogs and the difference between that and my silverstars is quite slim (color wise). It still appears like a regular halogen to me.

did you touch the bulbs when you put them in? Did you clean the bulbs with rubbing alcohol before you put them in? Cleaning them before you put them in really helps because maybe you didnt touch them but maybe somebody in the factory did or somebody somewhere "could" have so its good to play it safe and clean the bulb anyways. Thats my only guess on the premature burn out.

Ill agree theres a slight difference between the stock halogens and the silverstars being the silverstars are a little brighter white. I dont know what you mean by BIG difference but i associate BIG difference with HID vs Halogen, thats a BIG difference to me.

I dont blame you on spending 20 bucks every 2 months to replace burn out bulbs. Theres something wrong, either you touched them and didnt clean them or you got some bunk bulbs. Thats all the help that I can provide

Hmm..I spoke to my dad tonight. He said the company was "Sherman" and they were absolute pieces of **** to aim or install. Definately a shoddy product that he wouldn't recommend, but its all that the insurance was paying for. Look for an aftermarket headlight, with good quality, cause I can imagine you'll be taking them out or adjusting over time and don't need all that fiberglassing and precious work to go to waste over a adjuster.

SC/T brought up a good idea. Get the aftermarket lamps, take off the lense and put it on the stock ones. Solves the problem. Won't have that install and aiming issues you speak of.
