Head Rests!!!????!!!!!!

They're not by a long shot. I might have to go and pay for those I already ripped the treads in both of them. If anybody finds out how please share and quickly.

But In the mean time I called NW auto and talked to the installer. They said to try a heat gun or blow drier to soften it up and make it more plyable......... It didn't work.

yeah i dont really understand the headrests either... i started on my seats myself on saturday and got the passenger done in about 3 hours..was my first attempt so i think the rest will go quicker but the headrests don't seem to fit at all... i talked with a guy in my car club who used to install interiors and he said you definately have to remove the cloth. i tried cutting the seams and found that the headrest foam is glued to the cloth so i dont see how it will fit right? then it looks like the cloth was stitched into the foam and then folded in the center seam.. i can't see a way the clasps will work with the leather nw gave us? KIM, we could use some help

If you headrest is solid:

i just spoke with daniel from nwleather and he told me the easist way to install the headrest is to take a tube of silicon from like home depot or something, and lubricate the inside of the new headrest cover. slowly slip the cover over the factory headrest with the cloth still on because it is foam injected and glued in. then use the j clamps to close the cover and the posts slip from the sides. im going to try tonight and see how it goes.. let me know if this helped anyone else.

Let me know if you still have any problems, and post and I'll have Daniel take a look at what went wrong and have him reply on here.
Cheers

I'm also having a problem with the headrest, but I have the hole in the middle.

I can get it on fine, and I understand how the bottom hooks up and all...but how does that zipper work? I can't figure it out.

Thanks!

^As far as the back seats go. Lay down the back seats. Look in the crack between the two parts, you'll see a bolt coming out of the seat that is in this little groove, and a spring-loaded holder that keeps it there. Just slide that holder out of the way and it will let you pull the seat towards the roof and release it.

Our seamstress sews it on backwards so that it doesn't show when you zip it up. Now zipping it up is the hard part!! It takes two people, one to pull the leather together tight, and the other to work with the zipper. They use a little metal tool here so that once you have the zipper started, you can pull it together as the other person squeezes/pulls the leather together so that the zipper will do up. It takes time and is not easy, but we're thinking that with some strong string it shouldn't be too much to handle.
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you; VERY busy!
Any other questions, let me know!
Cheers

Thanks, that helps a lot. Is that metal tool something I should get, or will I be able to do without it?

I can't figure how to connect the zipper. It seems that 2 parts that need to connect together to get the zipper started are on opposite sides. The actual zipper is on one side and the other part that connects to the zipper is on the other side at the bottom, how do I get the 2 together to get the zipper started. Someone at the GAOC meet this past weekend got one started for me, but I can't figure out how to do it for the other headrest.

I'll snap a picture later if you don't understand what I'm talking about.

Thanks!

When is this group buy thing going to be over so I can see how some of your seats turned out? I ordered mine from Leatherseats.com for a real good price. Charcoal grey with red suede inserts and red stitching. They were a real good price and I got them in under two weeks. You can see mine on the 6th page of my car domain. More pictures will be posted soon.

It's been over for about a month already, that's why they're all currently installing their leather.

That is real cool! What kind of price did it go for or extra goodies did it come with. How many people went with this kit? I can't wait to see the other kits. If anyone needs to know how something works I have already installed my kit. Did you get hog clips for the back seat butt area or was it some other method? Everything else on mine was velcro, zippers, and fabric glue to get it in place.

If you look above, you will see the pics I posted of the leather.

I finally got my headrests on!!! YAY! I'll be putting the back seat back in the car this afternoon and I'll snap a few pics to share. I had the solid headrest. I used Vaseline the creamy lotion type in a tube and just lathered it on. It helped somewhat but mostly just made my hands slip out. Eventually I pulled the headrest on. The trick is to get one side just over the top of the headrest and then stretch the leather out until it will go around the other side. Then just shimy the leather very carefully down over the cover. You need to push the headrest foam in some areas to get it to fit right... boy was that fun! they look great though. Later.

I'm almost done installing the kit. I have the front seats done, the rear seats I have to finish and put back in the car (which will be done tonight).

Has anyone tried to install the door pieces yet?

I went to NOPI Race Wars car show this past weekend and won Second Place American Mild, my first show win and I think it was mostly because of my hot new seats everyone was taking pictures of thanks KIM!!
