Hey Everyone

I am a new member and am a relatively new car owner I recently purchased my 2001 grand am gt and I'm loving it. I haven't done anything to it really and I spent hours surfing this site last night looking at everyone's cars and they are def the sweetest grand ams I've seen around and not to mention pretty quick. The only mod I have is a functional ram air hood. I am looking for some performance upgrades and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what I should start out with? I'm debating between headers, and exhaust system, or saving for that supercharger. I'm a huge newb so forgive me if I ask any basic questions. I do have one question, I have been told that I can run a quicker quarter mile time if I put my car in 3rd gear is this true? Just like to say I love the site and I'l be around here for awhile.

Get your feet wet with a cold air intake and exhaust first. Forget the functional hood, they've proven to be insignificant.

thanks for the tips I should be squaring away a stage 3r intake system and cat back exhaust system soon from dr speed. I already have the hood it might not be all that great performance wise but it's still a sweet plus to the appearnce side of the car.

Welcome! Remember there's a search button that is pretty useful to find alot of answers you are looking for. My quickest run has been in D. I would start off with CAI and Exhaust.

What hood you have?
he has asserted his dominance over competing males with the loud masculine sound form his exaust system, Females searching for a potential mate will be driven away by weaker exaust systems and attracted to his SLP.
