I can't agree... but that's OK. Everyone is entitled to their own opinon. I personally think it's a shame to the GTO name rather than an Honor. Kinda like in the 80's when the Charger came out as a Dodge Omni (or something???) not an honor at all. Oh well.

It's a better deal.. with the new price, un-plane jane the thing and take the GTO label off of it and I'd be good with it.

Anybody see that new 13 second RWD sedan with an automatic from Daimlerchrysler?
It's a good thing they killed the camaro. I wouldn't want that car put to shame like the GTO has been.

The car looks good IMO...it's just too bad they picked this style for the GTO name. It could have been the body for the new Grand Prix or GA.

Damnit GM stop being a

All they had to do is make the next gen Camaro better than the old one.

Well...I love the 6. It's just that between the dual grills that every car seems to have these days (Pontiac, BMW, Nissan, etc.) and the roofilnes cars seem to all share the same general shape and bodyline, albeit in different sizes. See: GTO, G6, GP...

So I read some info on www.newagegto.com and it was pretty informative. It said that basically, dealers in areas that don't sell RWD v8s well (like winter hell holes) were promised at least 1 GTO just like the rest of the country and that due to the fact that they only got 1, they are marking up the prices rediculously. Actually dealers in general are doing this, as many can see. What was already seen as overpriced is being made rediculous in a lot of places. Anyway, Pontiac can't do anything about this.

However, it seems that the GTO is having an effect on Pontiac sales as a whole, where the soon dead Grand Am sales are up 40%, Grand Prix sales are up 35%, and the Vibe is having it's hottest month ever. They think it's because people are stopping by to see the GTO, get disgusted by the price markup, and the dealership escorts them to something with a better price. It's a halo car basically.

In any case, I read specs on the 2005 GTO, and wow!

Confirmed,

6.0L 400HP LS2 V8 (straight from the C6, along with the transmissions)
Larger brakes
Revised rear bumper with exhaust exits on both sides
Optional Ram Air hood
Optional (and revised) spoiler
Two new colors

Expected but not confirmed yet,

Choice of 17" and 18" wheel styles
More options (like sunroof, dual zone climate control, etc.)
More new colors

The base price is expected to remain about the same as it is now.

Concept image:

Supposidly this was taken on GM's media website for future publication but a sneaky journalist got a hold of the info.

In any case, Aussies have claimed they've had the LS2 for some time now and have been testing the engine in GTOs there, our GTOs I believe, not the HSV ones.

This is just their GTO Autocross concept at SEMA, but it's a fair indicator of what to expect since it's not that radical.

That's a bit better. Don't like the design of the spoiler though.

I think that is going to be an option, and owners can opt for the original. Either way the drivetrain and upgraded looks will make this the real deal and will shut up the naysayers, if it all is true.

I agree, as much as I like the GTO they should have given it this stuff for that price since the beginning. I feel bad for 2004 owners now, tho most love their goats.
