More bad news. Automotive News says the '04 GTO, as of 6/1/04, had 187 days worth of inventory (approx. 4,600 units). That is even more than 5/1/04 which was at 168 days worth of inventory.

My guess, by the 7/1/04 number release, the news of the '05 will have spread more and dealers will need hip waders for those '04s. I'll wager a 200 day supply by 7/1/04.....and then GM will be forced to kick in heavy incentives.

, funny story last night. This young kid pulls into Coney Island acting all hard ass, ripping around turns with his GTO (didng seem fast at all, and he couldnt shift worth ****), and parks. He gets out and I ask him, "Does it suck knowing that you bought an 03 and the 04's will have hood scoops and 50 more horsepower?." He got so ****ed off and told me to **** off.

You didn't really say "bought the 03 when the 04 gets all the other crap" did you? The one out is an '04 and the one getting goodies is the 05.

You fail to factor in the snob/preppy appeal to owning a vdub...................

gto is view more as a good old boy car....or some guy going through a mid-life crisis car.

Exclamation Hear ye, Hear ye!!

As it has been stated by engineers and auto critics alike, the car has power out the wazoo!! It's handling, braking, and accell numbers would all benefit tremendously from wider rubber. 245's are almost the maximum the front tubs will take, and 255 is about the widest the rears will handle. It is not for certain yet if GM will reengineer the tubs due to developement taking place on the next GTO already. I feel they will do it though, so that an even more creditable performance reputation will precede the next generation. They did give it the LS-2 didn't they, so they are willing to pull out some stops for it right now. It should have On-Star, and DVD nav, chrome wheels option, and sunroof, like the Holden Monaro though, and I think some of those options will show up soon. The autocross version should have been the standard version then the to conservative complaints would have been minimal. I still miss my f/body though, and would kill for a Special Edition "Carl Black" "BlackBird", they were to perfect for their purpose, and not mass audience friendly, otherwise they would still be here, I did show people the proposed 421 Super Duty special edition that was ready for 2003/2004. Let's just be glad the new GTO is here and can run like a scalded dog!!!!!

It is a nice ride. I was lucky enough to test drive a GTO at the 'Auto Show in Motion'.

June Update

Well, the slide continues. I read that June sales were once again a drop in trend. These are preliminary and will be touched up in a week or two probably, also providing days of inventory left. My earlier months guess of 200 days on hand looks like it might be true...or worse.

GTO's Delivered in June: 598
Total GTO's Sold To Date: ......gulp......3,687

All sales numbers can be found on GMs Webiste, and June was a down month for them.

P.S. As of the end of June the Aztek has sold 12,304 units

Still haven't seen another GTO on the road in Los Angeles but I do know there are three others out there. I still get positive comments daily while driving back and forth to work not to mention the stares.

Had to spank a Jetta hard yesterday and again today. Guess he just loved the punishment. Spanked him yesterday and saw him again today on the way home. He wanted more so I gave it to him. He just needs to learn when he's been beaten.
