Bringing this thread back to life...I'm actually going back to a Mazda dealership this Saturday to start wheelin and dealin' on a new Mazda 3. I want the 5-door in Strato blue; as far as options, I'm not too concerned. It's a fun car to drive, has a 4-year warranty, and looks pretty hot. I love my GA, but it's just not reliable anymore. I have a tendency to trade every 3-4 years anyway.
I'll keep posting here, but yes, I will no longer have the GA. |

I test drove a 3 and 6 before the GTP......
I liked the 6 but would have loved the 3 if only the seat went back 2 more inches

I'm short, so smaller cars work great for me. Jon is 6'5" and fit into it...he didn't fit into the Scion tC though! We had to open the sunroof for his head.
I'm excited about the 3. Getting a 5-door in Strato blue (if they can find one). I'll miss the GA, but eh, must move on. |

Is the Mazda 3 considered a chick car?
I mean, i see a lot of girls driving them around town, but then again i see a lot of younger guys driving the car too...personally i think it's borderline...the Mazda3 Sport has the aggressive look with the sport grille and dark tails, the regular version just looks like a rental car i'm in love with the winning blue (the electric blue color), and black Mazda3 Sports...if i were to get one, it would be a black 4 door sport Good luck LaSarita on your purchase!

Thank you! I test drove all sorts of cars and it was by far my favorite. I've always had GMs or Fords, so this is my first foray into the Japanese market.
I like the winning blue, too, but was drawn to the Strato. It's far more unusual, and I like that. We saw a brand new limited edition Black Cherry RX-8 there....now THAT'S a hot color. Jon has a velocity red 8, and he likes the Winning Blue, too. Oh well, bring it on!! |

IMO, the Mazda 3 and the Scion tC are going to be the 2 biggest sellers this year. They are both very sharp looking and very well built especially when you consider they are both under 20k.

I thought the tC drove with a "chintzy" feeling...besides the fact that Jon's head didn't fit in the car and we had to open the moonroof! There was a wind noise that was annoying and whistle-y in the car. The dash is real nice in those things. But the 3 is peppier.

Good luck getting a deal on a 3. I tried in December and they wanted $350 a month for a 48 month lease with 12k miles a year and nothing down for a "s" 4 door with cloth and no sunroof. I agree though, the 3 is a great looking car especially in either of the blue colors. I drove an automatic and it was definately not a zoom-zoom kind of quick. The 5 speed may be a little better. Also, go easy on the options packages, these cars get expensinve really quick. It is possible to load one up to $24,000.

^^yea..the higher priced ones come with Xenon's, leather, cd changers, navigation and all that stuff...there is also a special edition Mazda3 for 2005, it comes in a special edition color, with two tone leather interior and all other options
looks really nice though on a side note...$350 a month on the lease? damn...!

I'm not getting leather, nav, moonroof, etc. I don't need a lot of fancy options, to tell you the truth. ABS and xenons would be nice, so would a 6-disc....but they have to find a 5 door in the color I want first. |

I'm looking to buy a 3 5-door (the 5-door only comes with the bigger motor) for my wife very soon. We'll do with the silver exterior, black cloth, auto, sunroof and CD changer package, and the ABS/SAC/Airbag package. Along with the rear bumper step plates and a rearview mirror w/ compass, it should sticker right around $20K.
