If that is what YOU call research than that is what you should do.

fo44rd what are you blabbering about? We all know that you hate GM products, maybe you have a valid reason, maybe not. Get this through your thick skull, the new Pontiac GTO IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL GM product. Its comfort level, ride quality, fit and finish interior is vastly superior to any current GM products. Some say that its surpasses many european brands with double the price.

There is no need to troll the used car lot. Compare the features of the 04 GTO and the 05 GTO. For nearly the same amount the new GTO has more features, a new engine (the same as the vette), duals, stlye and bigger brakes.

I do have a problem with GM. My mom works for them and her shares in GM rise in value as fast their cars do. Most of the people she works with are in agreement the gemeral is behind the times in terms of build really good cars. It speaks volumes for a company when half the employees show up to work in cars other than a GM product.
Your arguements are useless. We are talking about the GTO here. FACTS are 1) Holden have been the market leaders in the sedan, coupe, utility, large car segments 2) Holdens factory now runs 24hr for 6 days and 12hrs on the 7th day (3 shifts) 3) demand far surpasses their ability to build the car 4) The vauxhall monaro (similar as the GTO) sold out within 3 months in Europe 5) there is a waiting list for Australian and arab monaros 6) Holden is the most successful GM division and is now regarded as the center for RWD R&D

Finally your proof is a bit sus. theres alot of pos out there using second hand evidence i.e. my mom, pop, brother, friend or sister FILL IN THE BLANKS. We owners of the GTO/monaro absolutely love the car. Look in a GTO dedicated site, there are plenty of guys with 2 04 GTO's. Owners buying their second GTO (because they love it) as a weekend car or for the wife speaks volumes for the great qualities of the GTO.

What facts?

Oh, I know how about the one of continually slipping market share. Is that not the ultimate test of a company? Back in the day GM had what almost 60 percent of the market? Today they are down under 30 percent? That is their big objective, to get and maintain 30 percent market share!!!!! There is a dark corner with people with their eyes closed. Every years there are less people in that corner!
Again look at the sales of Holden cars...........Ever since 97 Holden have been braking its own record, month after month.

WHY DOES A "YUPPIE" WANT A PONTIAC GRAND AM SE????
AREN'T "YUPPIES" INTO THE GERMAN STUFF?????
NOTE: "YUPPIE" IS A SUBJECTIVE TERM CREATED BY 30thAnvGAGT AND I AM JUST ROLLING WITH THE PUNCHES HERE.
Look at many import or euro forums, they all acknowledge the GTO as the best pontiac product (in terms of build quality, fit and finish and performance). A certain VW forums is currently in a GTO frenzy, with many members buying GTO's.

e fact that you use the terminology "HALO CAR" means you don't get it. Maybe I am an "old school" thinker on cars. You definitely represent the "new school" of thought that GM hopes to pawn off on the general public. W.T.F. a G.T.O. is a "HALO CAR"!!!!! It is suppose to be an affordable fast car for the people, not "HALO CAR". What the hell is a halo car and what idiot came up with this term?
Total production world wide for both GTO and monaros (saudi, UK, NZ and Aust) would be in the region of 27K per year. This car is therefore very exclusive, many areas are already running out of 04 GTO.

The GTO is a halo car for pontiac. It is the first pontiac for a very long time that could actually challenge european maques. The car is therefore important for pontiac not because of the # sold but because it can change future direction for pontiac and GM. Even now, Holdens quality control, structure, design and innovative manufatureing are being adopted throughout the GM world.

WHY is holden important? because they produce cars quickly, adaptable and using little resources.

In the used market they are that cheap already. About 5 or 6 dealers in my area have used examples with less the 8k on them and are willing to sell at that price.
Name the dealers and provide their phone numbers......this might be helpful to GA-GT forumers. Otherwise I call BS on that.

The only misery I see in this room are those who paid sticker price for their Impulse Blue/Blue interior 6speed GTO. He will be crying come trade-in/selling time.
Funnily enough many GTO owners dont regret buying the GTO at sticker. Many are now taking advantage of the discounts and buying their second goats. Their plan have always been buy an 04 and buy the new generation 07 GTO.

All that proves is you don't get it, just like GM doesn't. The D.O.A. sales of the "HALO CAR" speak for themsleves.
Lets talk about you dream ford GT (in your sig). Its also a DOA = damaged on arrival. Say what, its been recalled twice already? Talk about for cutting coners and offering an inferior product at supercar prices.

May I introduce you to the all new 2005 Ford Mustang GT!!!!!!!

If you lay off the options and wait for the initial hoopla to wear off.......It is a 25,000 car with 300 horsepower. Just wish they would have painted the mirrors. Oh well, at least they got the important thing right (horsepower, styling, and PRICE).
Horsepower @ 300hp is far lower than the GTO at 400hp, its a bit pricy for a common car 25K for a bare bones GT and 28+ for an optioned GT. Factor in the dealer increases and the new GT offering is a downright pricy vehicle. Would you get the same quality as the GTO? probably not since GTO's use similar type of leather as top BMW's , GTO's are more comfortable (for both driver and back seat passengers), actually have a modern IRS and have a great german audio system.

I am sick of being loyal to a company that does nothing but kick dirt in my face.
Good, more the reason to buy the new GTO. Since holden has never kicked dirt in your face.

you need to consult your local friendly Australian and learn how to convert currency. The Monaro is FAR FROM a $20k car!! Try over double that in US currency.
If we had the same deal as the US guys i.e. $27K then you would have seen me go down to the dealer and get 3 more monaros.

!!!! my old boss is australian, his brother just bought an HSV GTO - somewhere in the neighborhood of 80k australian. Cars there are quite pricey compared to the states.
GTO's are good buy many aussies including myself loved the flowing/classy lines of the normal monaro. What many are doing is buying a normal monaro and modding the Sh!t out of it, that way we get the styling and the power (usually for a lower price). ULTIMATE SLEEPER.

Yes, but the rebadged grand prix would have cost 10,000 less.

DOES ANYBODY ELSE AGREE WITH ME THAT THE GTO WOULD HAVE BEEN100 TIMES BETTER IF THEY OFFERED A BASE VERSION ALONG WITH THE FANCY ONE. I FOR ONE COULD HAVE LIVED WITHOUT LEATHER, THE FANCY STEREO (JUST A CD PLAYER PLEASE), THE FANCY GAUGE COLORS (WHICH BY THE WAY LOST VOLT AND OIL PRESSURE IN THEIR "AMERICANIZATION"), ALL THE ALUMINUM TRIM, ETC.?????????????? AND PRODUCE AS MANY AS THE AMERICAN PUBLIC CAN HANDLE, TO KILL THE "RARITY" DEALER CLAIM (EVEN STILL WITH 10 OF THEM ON THE LOT)?????
NO we love the car just as it is.
