I will. Pretty neat since I have never actually heard the car from the outside (as I'm always inside)

If I install a stage one cam will there be a difference from the way it would idle if it was stock?

Uh, yes... pretty much any time you install an aftermarket performance cam the idle is going to change to some degree. This is more true with pushrod engines also than with some of the DOHC engines with variable lift and timing. Anyway, how much the idle changes just depends on how much you change the specs from stock (ie. a mild cam or a race cam).

yes the idle will change, but the stage 1 cam is actually more of a subtle change than i thought it would be. either that, or i'm just used to the stage 2 cams. with the stage 1, you can still tell it's cammed, but it's not as noticeable as the stage 2.

Hey guys. I got the car back and since then it has been running pretty good on the stock pcm. The idle right now (lack of good tune) is kinda crappy, it bounces between 550-900, but im pretty sure I could have that taken care of by bumping up the idle. Other than shifts being stock, once I get into the right gear I want, It takes off. With a tune I already know this thing is gonna be a power monster, heck its already 50 more horse than I had so it accelerates fasssst. If you want a cam but dont want it to be loud and crazy, stage 1 is the way to go. Its more subtle, but releases the power when you need it.

I autotapped it about a week ago, I run 89 gas, and ended up with 0 KR! Cleared all the stupid DTC's that came up, the only one that still pops up is for EGR, seems its missing or something So everything looks good.

I raced a stage 2 3100 lumina ltz (cam, heads, pnp ULIMS) vs. my Stage 1 3400 monte ls (cam, pnp ulims) and the race was DEAD EVEN. So I guess that would mean milzy's heads give atleast 20 hp.

I also raced a 3800 non s/c grand prix and killed it by 2 car lengths, priceless face

Dont think about getting the cam, just DO IT

he has a 1996 Monte Carlo LS. i swapped out the 3100 for a 3400 and put in a stage 1 cam and our p&p'd intakes and a 180 t-stat. it has stock exhaust manifolds, stock tb, and when it left here, it had a stock intake box, not sure if this has changed. the car also has an exhaust, and i think that's the extent of his mods.
