Good news-Good news!!! Hope to see this all happen... that shop in Harriman (Protech...) uses there parts for all their performance trannies... they said that to do ours would involve custom fabricating the clutch plates, bands, valve bod.

Ok so I went to that bulkpart.com website and didn't see any performance transmission parts on it or anything that would help besides the transmission coolers...I have a tranny cooler and a transinterceptor is there anything else I can do that would at least help my tranny stand up to a 75 shot of nitrous? I really cannot afford any level 10 or anything over $1k, am I pretty much out of luck?

For a 75 shot, you should be fine with the cooler and higher line pressure (Interceptor). I'd recommend a fluid change approx. every 20K just to be safe. Also, if anyone installs a remote cooler, it is worthwhile to spend a few extra bux and get the remote filter as well. Allows you to check fluid and amount of pollution w/o pulling the pan. Good indicator of when to get a fluid change.

You said you already have a remote tranny cooler. I assume you mean the filter ... see here:

I fired of an email showing my support.

I used to live about a mile away from the Raybestos facility in Crawfordsville, I'm about 2.5 hours away from there now. Has anyone contacted and gotten a response from Gordon Stoney?

I got one email and sent one back with further discussion, but he has been in the field doing R&D and is too busy to handle what must be interesting and inviting conversation for him... I would continue hitting Chris' Account with inquiries and a show of demand. Chris has us on his radar screen and is accounting for the amount of interest.

I finally got an e-mail through today. Here is the reply:

"Tyger,

Thanks for the support. I will be working with a team this spring to
help develop friction plates for the HP 4T45E. I will let everyone know
about them as soon as we have found and resolved any weak areas.
Remember, the best friction plate won't survive in a performance
transmission that doesn't have enough line pressure or the support of
the hard parts surrounding it. But, once the transmission has been
validated to handle stupid amounts of power, you will be able to build
the engine until your pockets run empty.

Thank You,

Chris Horbach

Mmmm... this guy is definately my new friend... and it sounds like he's not going to stop at just the clutch packs...

You may need to reset the PCM... depends on how far DHP got with the software. Try that though and let us know what happens... the car will always try to return to the Granny Shifts, unless serious software manipulation is done. So it makes sense that the car is now shifting softer if DHP didn't dig to deeply.

This is the reply i got back from Chris, Is this a generic reply?

Jordie,
"Thank you for your inquiry. We are trying to push the new friction materials through to production. Once this happens, everything will fall into place with the clutch plates. We are working with Stoney Automotive Engineering and GM Motorsports to research the clutch pack requirements for higher power Grand Ams, Sunfires, Aleros, and Cavaliers.
We are also considering the availability of tranny upgrades and possibly an entire 4T65E HP transmission that can support 1000 HP. They include different final drive ratios up a 4.0:1, upgraded clutch packages, transbrakes, and so on. The pricing may be a little salty, but we can confidently say that the upgrades and/or complete tranny will be as near to bulletproof as you can get and the quality/cleanliness will be at a premium. What are the Grand Am/Alero/Cavaler/Sunfire owner’s thoughts of replacing the 4T45E with a 4T65E? We also discussed a conversion package that would allow the 4T45E guys to upgrade to a 4T65E.
Could you discuss some of this with the Grand Am/Alero/Sunfire/Cavalier clubs and internet groups? I need some feedback on what the market would accept and what there is a demand for.
Thanks Again,"
