I got a strict reprimand from pointing and laughing at a neighboring city cop's impala while I was filling up at a gas station.

The cop came over to me and was like, "what's so funny?"
"You got stuck driving a piece of ish Impala that is barely able to limp around the city"
" I didn't get 'stuck' with it"
"So you drive it willingly?"
"There's nothing wrong with it"
"Aside from the fact that it's a FWD ish can?"
"Look here, you're not gonna mock me or any of the other policemen out here protecting you"
"No sir, I was not mocking you, I was enjoying a moment of comic relief at the expense of your ishy patrol car..."
"Have a nice day."

I feel as though I was not in the wrong, but I certainly didn't have the right to make fun of his car. I'm just so used to seeing my city's PD romping around in unmarked blacked out Vickies, and blacked out Suburbans/Excursions. Seeing a wussy 17. second impala really 'scares' me. I think the police should be intimidating...

The Illionois State Trooper I deal with say the Impala they get are punishment cars. As bad as a CV is try fitting in one of those with a cage in it. I tried, it sucks. The CV's are a penalty box compaired to the B-Bodies of yore, but the Limpala sets a new low.

I'd be willing to bet that its not 17 second. Yet high 15's, low 16

Whatever it is, it doesn't scare me. I guess I just subconsciously ignore the Limpalas, because they aren't really menacing or terrifying when you see them. If I'm rolling around and I notice I'm going a little over the limit, I don't slam on my brakes like I do when I see a black unmarked vick, or burby.

So far, I've seen that the WA State Patrol has:
1. 02-03 Yukon XL. (Pewter, limo tint, looks like a porcupine with all the antennae)
2. 02-03 Suburban (Black, limo tint, again...porcupine)
3. 03 Ford Expedition (Black, limo tint...seeing a trend here?)
4. 02 Ford Explorer (White, limo ...etc but it has 20"s)

Those are just a few of the unmarked cars. Then they have a whole damn fleet of white vickies.

why did you just say high 16's and delete it? .

Anyways, the reason i said that is because one of my best friends has a 2000 Impala with the 3.8. He runs right beside me at the track

And check this article out: http://www.mpt.org/motorweek/reviews/rt1838.shtml

The Impala with the L67 can really scoot. 7.5 seconds for the N/A version isn't bad either, considering the target demograph of the car.

What is the "target demograph" of the car? People who don't give a fock how big of a P.O.S. their car is as long as it has a Bowtie on the hood?

High 15's for the Impala LS, high 14's for the Impala SS. Both better (and faster) than the POS heavy ass excuse for a luxury car the Ford is trying to put out "Five Hundred"

Yes, the whole car/driving experience is based on the quarter mile!

To hell with real world drivability, braking, handling, durablility, reliability, etc.

yeah, to hell with the comforts and stuff. Let's all go back to the late 60's and just have cars that haul ass in a straight line....and spin out of control when making a low speed turn...

I take it you've never driven a late 60's car. You wouldn't be saying that if you have.

(PS, I have, the '68 Charger R/T, has heavy duty sway bars from the factory. It can't corner like an Evo, but sure is better than a GA...)

the montgomery police still use the caprice. They have hidden lights on them. They don't even look like poilce cars. Looks like sombody's grand dad on there way to a Bingo game. One night i was on the interstate and was going 80ishor 105 can't rememeber to well. I see a car comes up quick. Did not think mutch of it since it look like it had rims. I thought it was a towncar. I almost sh!t my self because it was a state trooper with one of them slim light bars. Lucky my exit was only right up the road.
