edit: and also nothing done to the detroit pistons organization for their fans behaviors... but the league "is on notice".. whatever the hell that means
what would you suggest they do to the pistons organization?, punish them for one fan throwing a beer and then professional basketball players invading the stands to punch anybody who looks like they may have thrown a beer? im sure whoever was involved (fan wise) is getting police attention and those are season ticket areas and im sure they are revoking them or have revoked them for those involved. other than up secruity theres not much more you could do.

aparently artest didnt even punch the guy who threw the beer

^^ at a football game i saw before... a fan threw something on the field (not hitting anyone), and was arrested and prosecuted. that should be no different from them.

"my" suggestion you ask... if i were the league, i would allow the Michigan State Police (not city police) to arrest all individuals involved in the accident. review the tapes and if the fan assualted the player before the player hit him, the police should contact that player and ask if he wants to press charges. thats what would happen in any assualt and battery charge. if the player hit the fan first... that fan should contact the police and press charges against the player

just because the league punished the players (or fans if/when they do), that has NOTHING to do with the fact that the law was broken by 'assualt'.

thats just my opinion.

They have EVERY tape from EVERY angle. They know who threw the cup. I think they sasid 95% of the people have already been identified. The seson ticket holder who threwe the cup lost his tickets and is I believe not allowed back to the Palace.

all i gotta say is, no matter what a fan did, no professional athlete should run into the stands and start fighting. he deserved his penalty and the team deserved all the crap they threw on them. thats the bottom line there is a line, and if a fan crosses it, he just gets screwed the police.

I'd love to see how some of you all would react if someone you didn't even know just came and threw some beer(or whatever it was) in your face. I'm not saying Artest was right for going in the stands but damn.....a lot of people would have reacted the same way. Now, if you are gonna go into the stands at least beat up the person who actually hit you with the cup.

That dude in the glasses is about to get PAID!!!

yes... good for the nba... but screwed indianapolis big time! that money should stay in the city and help out pacer's charities... or at least stay in indiana. the league shouldnt take all 11 million dollars lost. thats ALOT of money that could be used and actually visually seen in indianapolis.

if i was the pacers financial guy, i would put 11 million dollars as donated in the books! thats a really nice tax break! haha

also... why do people say "professionals shouldnt do that"? they are professional basketball players, which doesnt make them 'sub-human'. my reaction if someone throws something at me if to correct that person. whether it be verbal or physical. i wont be violated because i make XX million a year and i'm a "professional". you should expect the same reaction if that person was a billion dollar player or a person making 4 bucks an hour working at a car wash. we're all humans and we're gonna react human-like. i guess people want to put blame on something/someone because they cant see its not just a one-sided battle.

What if President Bush went and started to pound on some guy who threw somethign at him? What if Bill Gates did the same? People will look down on them because they are professionals in their field of work.

basketball players are payed to play basketball and that basketball game they are being played to play exists for the entertainment of the fans. basketball players are in turn playing/working for the fans and shouldnt be punching them in the face

I saw an interview a few nights ago with the guy who threw the guy cup. Sounds like he's a real winner:

3 DUI convictions
Convicted of carrying a concealed weapon
Served a few monthis in a correctional facility for check fraud

Its really a shame that Artest went after the wrong guy....this guy deserves a beat down.

and people will look down to basketball players. if president bush hit someone in the face, he wouldnt get a year out of office. if bill gates hit someone, he wouldnt have to leave microsoft for a year. it would simply be a lawsuit (with alot of money).

stop treating these people as if they are robots. granted they are role models, they can make their own decisions. its not like people like eminem (who is a role model) makes good decisions. president clinton smoked weed before and got his pipes clean in the oval office and he was the president (which is most definetly a role model)

and lash, you are right. artest did hit the wrong person... and if that guy doesnt press charges against artest, he is stupid!

side note... to those who have been to a game before... would you think of throwing your 5-8 dollar cup of beer?!? heck, throw the popcorn or program... but not your beer

theres video of that guy pulling artest off of people, not throwing punches and getting kicked by artest in the meantime, even if he threw the cup, which i dont think has been proven yet. he had no part in escalating to violence.

and perhaps his time in the correctional facility straightened him out. he runs his own business and has a family. what it comes down to is none of us know the guy so whats the need to judge him?

cant judge the players either. if artest seen it necessary to throw punches, then thats where he stood. the arguement of them being professionals is irrelevant. some of the fans could be professionals in their field, who knows. careers/jobs havent nothing to do when people break the law (players and fans alike).

too bad they havent got the guy who ripped the chair off the stand and threw it. the camera showed him wiggling it back and forth but never throwing it, then the next frame, the chair was in the air, and the guy was running up the stairs. no proof of him throwing it, but everyone can put two and two together. lucky for him, not film caught him.

christmas day, pistons play at pacers... i wonder how the fans will treat them.

also, pacers are diffently proving themselves to me! i figured they would be out of wack... but they still are winning without their star players. definetly a good deal for them! might actually have a championship team afterall (way too soon to tell though)

Proves our point, all Pacers wanna do is fight. See, here in Detroit it just happened, nothing planned. You Pacer people are planning to actually fight before it happens.

And even the Pacer teammates didnt wanna be around Artest anymore. They were getting sick and tired of him and he was being a distraction to the team.
