G6 kinda grew on me. I was gonna say I'd buy it but that price is ric0ckulous... if they pushed back G6 sedan price to like 18-9k, the coupe 20-21k and the convertible 23-24, MAYBE id consider it. Plus it'd be funny to think I'm driving a Grand Am convertible

Anyways, COME ON GM!! WAKE THE FOCK UP!!! You can't just ignore these problems! Get your noses out of the air and come back down to the reality that if u do NOT start fixin these problems, you WILL BE brought out whether it be by Ford or Toyota, keep going this route and your downfall will be UNavoidable.

NEWSFLASH GM! People buy GM cars primarily because of price, you overprice the **** and you will lose sales!!!

Solstice is a step in the right direction, G6 pricing is opposite.
We are on the same page. Less car for more money. That is GM's new direction.

The price is fair, don't forget about the inevitable $1500-2000 rebate that it'll have a month after launch!

True, but Toyota is starting to do that too- I got 3500 bux off of my Toyota when I bought it, and the special financing. The toyota has more options than the Pontiac will have. Dont think I hate Pontiac, I still have one and love it.

So the same price as a comperably equiped Toyota is fair for a Pontiac?

I can tell you don't know how GM was run before the past 5 years... you know... when sales were increasing, back when they were kicking serious ass in every category (besides re-sale and reliability) looks, performance and price... GM was #1. Now 25 grand for a Grand Am replacement is fair.

Did anybody notice the mileage ratings for the GTP!? They are listed at http://www.pontiac.com/specs/specs_c...l.jsp?brand=g6

3.9L engine: 18/24 (city/highway mpg)

Tell me again why someone wouldn't buy a GTO over this?

Because they are two COMPLETELY different cars appealing to a totally different audience. The nearly $8,000 price diference isn't all that easy to handle either.

No need to yell (or the internet equivalent thereof ) I'm thinking that the price of the G6 GTP will be closer to $30K once you start adding options to it. I realize they are completely different cars, but are they really targeted at different audiences? I was mainly looking at mileage differences, and it seems that the goat would be the better option in that situation. . .

From Pontiac's website: (base prices)
2006 GTP :$25,735
2005 GTO: $32,995

GTO rebate: $1000
G6 rebate:$1500

Difference in price: $7760

Once you option up the GTP it may be closer to $4000, still not an insignificant number.

When you are talking a $26k car verse a $30k car (which you can most likely get a GTO for), yes, it is a pointless difference when you are spending that for a car. Key thing is, each car has a different target audience so those looking for a G6 probably don't want a GTO and vice versa.

A G6 GTP with the good fixins will run near $28k+ I bet

Well not completely different someone buying the G6 GTP is obviously not the same demographic that is buying a regular G6 (mostly middle aged women) they want a car with performance and some balls but still even a $4000 difference is almost an extra $80/mo in payments thats not insignificant in the least...and the chances of finding a base model GTP are going to be slim most of them on the lot will be packed with goodies probably pushing the price close to 28k easily.

As far as the GTP vs GTO pricing goes, I went through it in December. My G6 sticker was $25,750, the 2004 GTO I was looking at was stickered at $33,495. The lease price on the GTO was $280 a month for 24 months, 12K miles a year. I pay $228 for my G6 same terms. So it was a $52 diference. Since GM isn't giving GTOs away any more, it will no doubt be more than that for 2006.
