id like to see a GM car last 300000+ miles...ive seen plenty of imports on the original engine and tranny do it (tho there are some small nick nacks that have to be fixed every once in a while)

and i wouldnt say american cars have japs on performance....american companies focus on brute power...imports are generaly more refined

i like both....but lean more towards imports

My dad is certified by ASE for pretty much every category possible (car light/heavy trucks) and he does choose to drive GMs. I asked him about it before and he told me that really one is not more relaible then the other its just imports cost more to fix. I dont bash honda, they are good cars, but just because its got that plastic H on it doesnt mean your car is going to be problem free. How old is your car? 2 years? Thats a good judgement call as to imports are better? Did you know Honda doesnt like to make their recalls public, they like to say contact dealer in programs such as AllData? Got something to hide maybe? No car is perfect, it depends upon preference. I choose American because they tend to look better and when it comes down to performance they got Japan pwnd.
Dude...whatever. hah.
My car is 1 year old. The H on it is not plastic. Honda does make their recalls public as they have recalled most of their newer vehicles due the something minor in the trans that *may* cause problems...umm yeah and 150,000 miles ain't shiiit. Try making those American cars go to 300,000 miles or more.

I'm not gonna argue with an 18 year old when you don't know anything yet becuz this is probably your 1st car and you've probably only been driving for 2 years

I have had 2 Grand Am's before this car, a 2000 and 2003 both GTs...also 2 other "American" cars before that...I chose an "import" for a reason. And like I said, we all know everyone has their own opinions and preferences.

by plenty do you mean 3 or 4? realistically who honestly drives their car for 300000 miles? I dont believe you when you say that they have gone 300000 miles on an original tranny, its just not realistic. That car would have to be babied for its entire life to do that. And how often do you go out looking for cars that have 200000 plus miles on the engine? I'm sure their are just as many cases of american cars doing that also.

1. Americans beat on their cars, because the fact is most dont care about them. There is a difference between can and do, you all know that being American is about status, who has what and so on. Another reason why really old American cars arent seen, no one wants to give them the chance because they want to drive something newer.

2. Imports hold more value because of the fact they are imported, so there is a reason to hold on to an older import then american car because it is worth more.

w/e I'll drop it, cuz I dont wanna be mean. Oh yea, dont make age a factor cuz it isnt one, its about what you know and not how old you are.

We can all thank the Fleet companies (rental cars) and the auto makers for selling them all to fleet, for the low resale value. Hertz up here has a few focus svt's in their fleet- I think they are corporate cars though, so their resale value might be a tiny tiny tiny bit better than a gagt.

Some people dont care too much what car they drive as long as they have a car and the longer it lasts and less maintenence it needs the better for them

My family has owned Fords all my life, but cause of company we've got a new one every 3 years, never had a problem with any of them but it's too short a life span. My mom had a 93 Altima and we got it in 94 when i got to drive it in 2001 it had 150k on it and still ran like new it was amazing, we sold itin 2003 cause it was nickel and diming us to death, of course my family does baby cars we change the oil every 3k and regular stuff but i know another guy who has a Toyoto that's goin on 400k he's got a sign in the back saying how many miles it's got the body is rusty but it's still goin amazing is all i have to say

I think a motor will run forever, all depending on how you beat on it and maintain it.

Any car over a 100k need more maintain then a car with less mile's. The more Mile on the car the more maintain. There come's at time that its just cheaper to buy a new car then keep fixing the old. But yes a motor will run forever if you maintain it from the day you get it. And dont beat on it.

I ordered my GA and picked it up with 8 miles on it. But my new car wasn't running the best. I had a few bugs to be worked out like my passenger side window regualtor went dead at 10,000 miles my rotors were wapring at 15,000 miles. But now it seems like maybe my car is being problem free right now at 17,000 miles just had it inspected it on Monday. No weird electrical problems. Yet knock on wood

WOW how bout this thread

wasnt the whole idea of it to simply state what would be the next vehicle you were going buy

maybe i miss read something but i did last this long reading everything so i figure i would post.

i think i may buy a pacifica only for the low low prices on them right now throw some 20's on it and call it my beater

or if i get something nice i would buy a bmw 325i or a dodge magnum or a chrysler 300 there is just so many choices not sure how i would make a decision

I have no idea where the thread is now...

But next car= 2002- 2003 Subaru WRX. I don't care if it's Japanese and has 4 cylinders and 4 doors and dorky round headlights- it's something I've wanted for a long time.
