The TA had nice curves and appeal written all over it. I know everyone wants a "retro" Camaro, which would be cool. But a retro TA, that would kick some major arse. Especially if they made it as appealing as the 1998-2002 TA models, yet retro at the same time I sure wish I still had my mint conditon 86' Firethorn red TA (or any from '86-'89), eh, anyways. TA TA TA TA TA TA!!!!! Are you listening Pontiac (GM)?!
I agree, The TA has always looked better. More lines better setup, just a better car. Yes the TA has about 100LBS on the Camaro but it is all in luxury and style. I have had 7 TA's from a 73 455HO car to the 01' BlackBird WS-6, now I have the 99' 30th Anniversary TA and an 85' 305HO car along with my 02' GA, my dad has had 11 Camaro's (Z-28's and SS') along with ZR-1 Vette, LT-1 Vette, LS-6 Vette and he is now a TA guy too. Just a world of difference. TA has GFX Camaro none, TA has pop up headlight Camaro borrowed there's from Chrysler (looks like). Even the little things like the Adjustable headrest where the Camaro only has a 2 piece seat the TA is 3 piece with power adjustments standard. Bring the TA back if anything.

For the people saying the vette blows the mustang away. They weren't even made to compete with each other. It was the F-bodies, that were made to compete with the mustang. Camaro, Firebird, and Mustang, the 3 original ponycars yet the only one left is Mustang and its still pulling pretty damn strong.

If you really want a mustang to compete with a corvette just wait till the new saleen hits and its a few grand cheaper =).

And whoever mentioned the mustang II's....ewww, I saw one on the road the other day, I had to do a double take, I thought they were all gone, hehe.
My parents used to have one back in the day, they repleaced cams like 3 times and other random parts a few times before they finally junked it.

yah there is no way a 3.8 supercharged monte would lose to an empty mini van with a 3.4 let alone a van with 7 people in it .. i do agree the 3.4 sucks in the monte though. and also that homo is on crack if he thinks i would be impressed driving a cobalt ss instead of a phat ass camaro or trans am..

hmmm soup can fart exhaust or deep throughty scare the **** outta your grandma and kids exhaust ?? the mustang has always outsold the camaro and trans am because they are seperate divisions.. all 3 cars sounded awesome. the only american muscle we could afford.. they killed 2 of them and now only have one left with no real competition.. they should make the gto affordable and try adding a thing called style into it.. looks like a plain jane family care .. well the 2006 is lookin better but far from a mean muscle car like its predecesor.

This is an older thread, but seems to be back. But I just want to know why people keep comparing Mustang to Corvette? The mustang never was, does, or is going to compete with a corvette. They are not in the same class, and Ford has stated this many times that it isn't made to match the vette. Its made to be a decently quick muscle car, that was affordable to many people. Which is why they have the 19k Coupe, the 30k loaded GT, and the probably around 40k SVT. I don't see corvette with a 19k coupe version, and you never will. The pony was to compete with Trans Am, GTO, Camaro, and the like.

With TA, and Camaro gone, and the GTO not doing much, the Mustang is running rampant.

And I agree, if GM brought back anything it should be the 'bird.

The Mustang was running rampant even when they were selling the F-bodies.

The Corvette was never meant to compete with the Mustang. I get a feeling the mustang wants to compete with the vette now tho.

You cannot compare a $50k car to a mid $20k car, thats like comparing my TL to your GA...pointless

i wasn't referring to the current day or even recently at all

he said never was the mustang to compete with the vette, and thats wrong in my book. because if my memory serves me correctly (which it could very well not) the mustang way back in the day did many of its changes/options/pricing in order to try to steal sales/outsell the vette

i agree, comparing them now is rediculous, but that just shows you how the corvette has moved forward a little more than the stang

Eh, its just 2 different marketing strategies. GM goes low volume higher price. Ford just the opposite. Think about how many 4 cylinder mustangs they sold to teenage girls. GM doesnt sell many vettes, but they are up there competing with some nice stuff like Prosches.
