I see that car everywhere, and I bet your buddy knows my car too. I went almost a month where I saw him driving almost everyday!

yeah his family is nuts... his dad has a red 96 mustang GT (400 horse) and his brother had a 98 mustang cobra, totalled it, got a yellow WRX... then sold it to his grandparents (which i might add is quite funny seeing them in a tricked out wrx that is rediculously fast.) his grandparents also live with them so he can drive it whenever he wants. NOW he lives in california and has a black 96 cobra with side pipes. and he has the eclipse. they have a "need for speed."

hey Aaron, i just got a question. I would like to make things run smoothly because i really only have like 2 hours to do either the back or the front. I decided to do the spring/strut assembly in the back first cause it will be easier. my question is about the kyb boots, should i like shave off what u said to shave off so it makes it easier and they will fit. cause i don't want a little thing to like take up 30 minutes, i just wanna make sure it runs smoothly so i don't need to leave my car there over night cause i will be ****ED. so do i shave off the top part of the boot?? Thanks for your help Aaron.

They'll fit without shaving anything off. It's just that the eibach directions call for cutting like 10mm off the bump stops, just to make sure you aren't hitting them too often and to keep more suspension travel with the car lowered. Like I said, with the KYB boots being all one piece you can only cut off of the top of the bump stop instead of the bottom (which is inside the boot), so you can only take off like 5-6mm. I doubt 5mm will make much difference on a street car that doesn't see any track time, so you could probably leave them as is. If you do want to trime them, a hack saw goes thru pretty easy, and it only take a couple minutes.

Might be ok... one question though... how'd you put the boot on upside down?

Really though, it should be ok. Just try not to get them dirty as much as possible and clean the shafts off when you re-install them. The boots aren't exactly air and water tight to begin with so they get some dirt on them anyway over time. It's just to protect the shaft from the big stuff that might chip or scratch the shaft surface which could make the seals leak.

well from all the stuff i learned yesterday, i decided to do the fronts today and then fix the backs tomorrow but anyways, they are on and i love the ride. the clunking is there yes still but it's not as bad as it was with my stock setup. i think my front mounts are shot.

hey Aaron, if i don't replace the mounts for a little while it won't hurt the strut will it?

It shouldn't hurt the strut. Can't say much about the mounts though, being as I've never had any problems with mine. It's really not a common problem in fact, they hardly ever replace any at the dealer my dad works at. I'd really try the washer under the nut on top and see if that makes if go away.
