tell them its not a bad price but you don't really like the color, make like your leaving....if they wanna make the sale they'll come down lower. I've used that tactic after talking #s with the salesman for a while, he then leaves to go talk to the sales manager and comes back with like 15$ knocked off the payment (saves me over $700 bucks by just telling him i'm not crazy about the color )

UNCTYPE-S, believe it or not I can't see myself buying a GTO because i'd rather spend like 19 or 20 thousand and get a used CL Type-S if i was buying a car. Im not really in the market to buy a new car, but I dropped in just because they really wanted me in. But i don't know, after the grand am and driving my parents Lexus and Infiniti, I would rather keep my grand am through college and buy a G35 Coupe or CL (when the new ones come out) instead of losing money on my grand am where I still owe money. I don't want to get into that american vs. imports feud, but I'd rather spend my money on an import down the line.

If I could get an auto for 20,000 I would consider it.

Part of the trick of negotiating. You can't let them know you really want the car.

Do you think you could write a thorough post that can be stickied here informing everyone about how car companies work AND how to purchase the right car at the appropriate price it is worth.

We all could benefit from your blatant wisdom you always show us.
