Ive heard of Dual its some offbrand crap. Dude you live in lawrence, go visit that car audio store in town called Keif's or something rather. Theres a member on our forums that your on(KCGAC) that works at that place and gives discounts to kcgac members... screw best buy.
Haha

That was sarcasm... Dual replaced Jensen as the low end! Oh, and best buy is worthless.... really really really worthless! The stuffs old and most of the installers there are completely clueless. Oh, and yeah, I keep meaning to go to Kiefs but I havent bought anything in lawrence... im a poor college kid now!

I am happy with my Sony. It has more power output and the display is nice for cheaper price.

DEH-P9400MP

CD/WMA/MP3 Player - OEL Display with Motorized Flap
M.S.R.P. $ 870.00

This top-end CD Receiver gives YOU the power: you can play WMA- or MP3-encoded discs, regular CDs, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs. The DEH-P9400MP plays them all, and it also controls Pioneer CD changers. And for fine-tuning all that music, a three-way crossover network and built-in DSP- which offers a 13-band Graphic EQ- let you get the sound JUST right. The DEH-P9400MP has a motorized flap face, and the Organic Electroluminescent (OEL) display will transform your dash, with full-motion and 3D graphics and a wide viewing angle. Plus, you can download images to it from the Web using our PC Link Kit. A MOSFET 50 Watts x 4 power supply delivers the juice, and you get three pair of Hi-Volt (4V) RCA pre-outs if you want to add amps. The DEH-P9400MP is XM Ready and comes with a steering wheel remote.

By no means is it easy to choose, but I went for look in the GA and the performance matched up when I bought a Kenwood MPV-6022. I wanted the lights and background to match the guages in the car...keepin it all Red. Kenwood was the first to offer the lighting when I bought it and I've loved it ever since. It wasn't too much..like $280 bucks and I'm not willing to spend much more than that on a head unit, so it fit perfectly. Plays MP3's, has dual zone sound settings in case I ever put in a tv or use my laptop in the car. I've owned a Pioneer Premier, and I liked it, but companies flooding the market with their products make me weary..and having had two pioneer home recievers that both wound up getting warranty repairs, I looked at only Alpine and Kenwood. However, I look at Kenwood being just average along with JVC, but it beats a Sony!

Since this "poll" has been revived, I'll mention that I just ordered a new Clarion HU. It plays MP3s, has this "music catcher" feature where it takes songs off of CDs and stores them as WMA files on a hard drive, has 80 different colors for background and buttons (so it will match my GA's interior lighting), and I paid $280. I think it's money well spent and according to people around the net, it's a good brand with very a clean and clear sound.

I just bought and installed one of these:

Pioneer Premier DEH-P770MP

This is the first Pioneer i've owned (previously had a Clarion, Panasonic, Kenwoood and Eclipse) and is the best by far.
